507024 & 507025 are expected to be stood down on Tuesday/Wednesday, I'd advise anyone who wants to take one last ride on these units to do so today and tomorrow incase both are withdrawn on Tuesday.
Cheers, might take a punt on Tuesday and pop over for a couple of hours - hopefully they’ll (or at least one of them) be out!

I agree with the point about 507022, it was withdrawn after a collision with 507004 at Kirkdale depot but 022 came off worst. The damaged coach was eventually sent up to Scotland where it was rewired, cab rebuilt and the coach was then added to 314203 which lost 1 of its coaches in a nasty collision with the 314 coming off worst..

I'm not fully sure of the circumstances that lead upto the collision at Kirkdale depot or the collision which badly damaged the coach of 314203 but that is as much as I know about it.

Currently the only units from the Merseyside area which have been withdrawn and shredded into millions of pieces are 507006 & 019 aswell as 508s 110, 122, 123, 134, 140 & 143 giving 8 units in total

Out of our fleet of 59 units, these are the only units to leave the Merseyside area at this time, the imminent withdrawal of 507024 & 025 will bring the total up to 10 leaving us just 49 for service.
Correct.

The original fleet size was 76 units, with all 33 507s and 43 508s, but for the longest period of time the fleet size was 59, so the only comparison that can be made is of this fleet of 59, with the original order of 52 777s, the 53rd being extra to cover the extension to Headbolt Lane and not part of the replacement of the existing fleet.

507024 still running on the Southport line for anyone who wants it, seen with 508108 on the 1736 Hunts X - Southport earlier.

I estimate 18 months before they're gone for good, get your last rides in.
Depends on how fast they rebuild Southport station, as well as when they get 8 car 777s available. Both of the above will affect the Southport line, with the later affecting the Chester and Ellesmere Port lines also. Everywhere else can just about manage with 4 cars, albeit with a lot of grumbling, those 3 however, can not.

The Chester and Ellesmere Port lines have no booked six car workings at all, so the multiple working problem would not affect these routes.

Fantastic - that's brilliant, thank you so much!
You wouldn't happen to know if 507003 and 508128 are also out by any chance would you please? Thanks again!

Unfortunately, things often don't play out as expected on the Southport line after the morning peak. A look at RTT shows there was a 5T61 1000 ECS to Kirkdale which I think was 507024 going by the times. Hate to say it, but it may already be finished.

507003 is long-term out of service (overhaul work I think) so you won't have any luck with that, but 508128 was out yesterday on the Ormskirk line.

As stated above - 507024 instead formed 5T61 1000 Southport to Kirkdale ECS. Must've been altered just after I checked as it was allocated to Southports all day.

508128 is on Ormskirks.
Ex-Liverpool Central at 1246, 1416, 1546, 1716, 1846.

Fantastic, thanks once again! Will go and track down 508128 now - it's my girlfriend's last serviceable 508!!!

I could have sworn they used to be 6 cars. They were certainly busy enough.
There were two six car formations in mornings only from Chester (certainly not Ellesmere Port - the loadings on this line rarely trouble a three car) but the last of these disappeared last year having had much of its demand strangled by short-notice chopping and changing. They surely won't be bringing them back.

The Ormskirk line is busier than the Chester line despite not benefiting from two Ellesmere Port trains for much of its length, hence it retaining six car trains.

Well Southport is still the crux of when we'll see the last of the old units. Ormskirk they can make work with 4 cars, albeit with grumbling, but I don't see that being the case with Southport.
