Cumbria area service changes 11th April 2011
Stagecoach is making a number of changes to services from the above date, particularly affecting services throughout the Lake District, as we introduce our 2011 season timetables. In addition, a number of longer-distance routes throughout the County will have some service number changes. Full details are given below (in service number order).
30, 31 Maryport Workington Whitehaven Thornhill or Frizington
A revised Monday to Saturday timetable will be in operation, with many journey times changing. The frequency of buses and overall level of service will remain the same.
38 Carlisle Silloth
We are pleased to announce our new summer Sunday service for 2011, providing three return trips per day between Carlisle and Silloth. This service commences on Sunday 10th April and runs until Sunday 30th October.
66 Carlisle Blackwell Durdar Stoneraise School
There will be some minor timetable changes, following customer suggestions. The journeys which currently operate on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays only, will now operate throughout the week, but check the new timetable carefully, as some journey times will change.
73, 73A, 74 Calbeck Rambler (Carlisle Caldbeck Keswick)
The timetable will be revised, with buses between Carlisle and Caldbeck operating as service 74, then changing at Caldbeck to become service 73/73A. Customers should note that they will still be able to purchase through-tickets and will not even have to change bus, as the buses will simply change their number in Caldbeck.
In addition, we will be operating a new daily return journey from Carlisle to Keswick, which will provide extra opportunities for customers wishing to travel direct, but for whom the 554 times are not suitable.
77, 77A Honister Rambler services
These services will be reintroduced for the 2011 season. The timetable will be the same as that operated last year.
78 Keswick Seatoller
The summer timetable will be reintroduced for the 2011 season. The timetable will be the same as that operated last year.
86 Keswick Portinscale
The return journeys leaving Keswick at 1011 and 1311 hours will be withdrawn. Customers should alternatively use services 77 and 77A instead.
106 Penrith Shap Kendal
The Stagecoach journeys on this service will show the number 107 between Penrith and Shap. At Shap, the bus will then change number to 106 before continuing to Kendal. There will be no changes to the timetable and journeys provided by Apollo 8 travel will remain unaffected throughout.
108 Penrith Patterdale Hotel
The summer timetable will be reintroduced for the 2011 season, with minor changes to the Sunday times.
300, 301 Carlisle Wigton Aspatria Maryport Workington Whitehaven
These services will be revised to become:
300 Carlisle Wigton Aspatria Maryport
with guaranteed connections at Maryport for
301, 302 Maryport Workington Lillyhall (302) / Harrington (301) Whitehaven
In order to ensure that we can continue to effectively operate these bus services, route 300/301 will be split into two sections, operating Carlisle to Maryport and then Maryport to Whitehaven. Customers should note that they will still be able to purchase through-tickets and will not even have to change bus in Maryport, as the buses will simply change their number at Curzon Street.
As a result of the above, there will be some minor timetable changes, but the overall level of service will remain the same. Between Workington and Whitehaven, buses on what will be service 302 will now have an even 30 minute frequency throughout the day.
505 Windermere Coniston
The summer timetable will be reintroduced for the 2011 season. The timetable will be largely the same as last year, with only minor changes.
516 Ambleside Dungeon Ghyll
The summer timetable will be reintroduced for the 2011 season. The timetable will be largely the same as last year, with only minor changes.
517 Bowness Glenridding
The summer timetable will be reintroduced for the 2011 season. The timetable will be the same as that operated last year.
530, 531 Kendal Grange Cartmel / Cark / Flookburgh
In connection with additional school journeys that Stagecoach are now providing to Priory School (Cartmel), additional shoppers journeys have been introduced from the Grange peninsula area to/from Kendal. Please refer to the new timetable for details.
552 Kendal Arnside
From 30th April 2011, Cumbria County Council is ceasing subsidy, which currently provides for a number of journeys to divert via Levens Village. As a result, this service will no longer serve Levens Village after 30th April, but there will be no other changes to the timetable.
554 Carlisle Wigton Keswick
This service will be revised to become:

In order to ensure that we can continue to effectively operate this bus service, route 554 will be split into two sections, operating Carlisle to Wigton and then Wigton to Keswick. Customers should note that they will still be able to purchase through-tickets and will not even have to change bus in Wigton, as the buses will simply change their number at King Street.
For the 2011 season, we are making some changes to the timetable. The first journey will be delayed from Carlisle to allow concessionary travellers to use their passes. At the same time, we have also tried to improve connections with the 685 service, following customer requests.
555, 556, X55 Lancaster Kendal Windermere Ambleside Grasmere Keswick
A revised timetable will be in operation for the summer 2011 season, to try and improve reliability. In addition, following customer requests, several Monday to Saturday late evening journeys will divert to serve Bowness on Windermere, operating as far as Bowness Pier.
567 Kendal Kirkby Lonsdale
Minor timetable changes will be introduced.
599 Bowness Windermere Ambleside Grasmere (Open Top route)
The summer timetable will be reintroduced for the 2011 season. The timetable will be largely the same as last year, with only minor changes.
600 Carlisle Wigton Cockermouth Whitehaven
This service will be revised to become:

601 Cockermouth Lakes College Whitehaven
In order to ensure that we can continue to effectively operate this bus service, route 600 will be split into two sections, operating Carlisle to Cockermouth and then Cockermouth to Whitehaven. Customers should note that they will still be able to purchase through-tickets and will not even have to change bus in Cockermouth, as the buses will simply change their number at Main Street.
As a result of the above, there will be some minor timetable changes, but the overall level of service will remain the same. There will be morning peak time changes between Cockermouth and Lakes College.
685 Carlisle Brampton Haltwhistle Hexham Newcastle
The Stagecoach Sunday journeys between Carlisle and Hexham will be revised. In addition, on Sundays only, buses will display 85 as the service number between Haltwhistle and Hexham, instead of 685.
X4, X5 Workington Cockermouth Keswick Penrith
These services will be revised to become:

In order to ensure that we can continue to effectively operate this bus service, route X4/X5 will be split into two sections, operating Workington to Keswick and then Keswick to Penrith. Customers should note that they will still be able to purchase through-tickets and will not even have to change bus in Keswick, as the buses will simply change their number at the bus station.
At the same time, we will be revising the route and timetable to allow all buses to operate the X5 route between Workington and Keswick. As a result, the X4 route variation will no longer operate and customers for the east side of Bassenthwaite Lake should use services 73, 554 and X58 instead.
We are taking the opportunity to try and improve train connection opportunities at Penrith and there will be an improved early morning and late evening service for Stainton, following customer requests. Most buses will also operate via Stainton on Sundays too.
X8 Chorley Preston Windermere Ambleside Grasmere Keswick
This service will be reintroduced for the 2011 season, operating on Saturdays only from 9th April until 29th October inclusive. The timetable will be the same as that which operated last year.
X35 Barrow Ulverston Grange Kendal
At the request of Cumbria County Council, a couple of journeys in each direction will be diverted to serve Greenodd village, instead of High Newton. Otherwise the service remains unchanged.
X58 Maryport Cockermouth Castle Inn Hotel Keswick
This service will be reintroduced for the 2011 season, operating in the Easter, May and Summer school holidays. The route will be revised between Embleton and Keswick to operate via Castle Inn, Bassenthwaite (main road) and Mirehouse / Dodd Wood, partially replacing service X4.

They make the first 554 even later then it already is? No wonder it is a very under used service. Wish they would put some time and effort into this service and improve it. If you want to get into Keswick before 11am you have to travel via Penrith on the 104... Also, would have been nice for them to have a later one out of Keswick. Obvously not going to bother again this year.
14234 is the only one left at LL now!
