Can't wait till Saturday......

There's days out on the mainline, and there are day's out on the mainline !!!!!!

I'm looking forward to being on this tour also, from Kings Cross to York and return. Eight hours plus in the historic city of York, excellent value I think.;)
This will be my first Deltic haulage, we don't get many down here in Plymouth. Also will be my first time mainline departure from Kings Cross.
Does anyone know which platform departure is from? Thanks in advance.

So who all on here is going to be on this then?

I might be at Waverley, depending on a couple of other things I'm trying to arrange atm, and it might be nice to meet others who will be there :)

Passed through Ha'penny Bridge (N of Stevenage) on down fast bang on time about an hour ago. Possibly two decent pics, will see how they turn out when developed.

The breakfast on board was very nice. Porridge followed by full english.
There is no doubt about it, the caterers, The Gravy Train, do damn good meals considering the very cramped conditions they work in. I've never had a bad one with them.

Don,t think the plates made any difference, food didn't go cold to me - just finished dinner, excellent meal.

Forgot to say, nice to see 90019 at Waverley (both of them - the loco and the person!), didn't spot Scotsman at all!

The old biddee serving could learn a few manners though...

55022 got into Preston early. I had a good afternoon out. Now got to look forward to a less rateable Voyager and Pendolino home.

I ended up going down to Longniddry for the down run and Prestonpans for the up return with some mates - had a great time in North Berwick!

Twelve hundred miles! FanTAStic! And the ol' girl was looking and sounding like a young racehorse, when she powered past me early this afternoon.

Amazing that, on her 50th birthday, we reflect that she was a month shy of her 21st anniversary when BR took her out of traffic. She's done well.

Well that was a pleasant way to spend a Sunday. Not too early a start and an empty Pendo down to London and then onto a railtour that started at 1306.

55022 absolutely stormed up Camden Bank and then followed a nice run up the WCML to Crewe in the second coach (First Class Mk 1 very nice), RSG looked superb and well done to Martin Walker and his team for keeping 55022 on the mainline.

Some pictures from here:
