Only Mk4s are now 1V91, 1W57, 1V46, 1W65 everything else units today

The failure from last night has been abandoned at Hereford I believe.
I'll confirm that when I walk by in a little bit!

So today I think we have the first case of sets interworking between the Holyhead and Manchester routes.
HD05 arrived at Cardiff from Holyhead this morning and will now stay on the Manchester run for the rest of the day.
That puts a set in Crewe tonight for tomorrow's Manchester services.
So will any sets emerge for the Holyhead services?
Tonight's Mk4 to Holyhead (1714 ex Cardiff) is down for a pair of 153s, which have been on the diagram all day.

Thanks for this info
Is this set in stone or a fluid situation?

It’s very informative for the catering staff trying to plan each Day.

It's certainly planned, Obviously (more) set failures or crewing Issues can change it though in the meantime!!

Pretty much a certainty none are out Saturday now though then should be back ready for Monday with 3 diagrams again next week.

This saga is an absolute farce, and will be destroying confidence in the reliability of the Manchester-Cardiff service for regular customers. TfW should just have bought some more 3 car class 197 dmus for this service, which would have assisted with fleet standardisation. First class provision is not needed on any services to/within Wales, other than on the GW main line to London, and hasn't been provided for the best part of 50 years on the "North and West" main line, shortly after it was demoted to a secondary route.

Was going to try out the MK4 today on 1855 from Cardiff but see its a 175. I suppose at least I wont have made a wasted trip to Cardiff.

I have to disagree here, it stops looking like an “absolute farce” when you compare it to introductions of other, new, stock such as the 196s and appears rather more like teething issues. The passenger has only really noticed a day or two of disrupted service, which is hardly unusual on this line, and in return will get a significantly improved rolling stock provision, also dealing with overcrowding. Give it a few weeks and the Mark 4s will be pulling in far more passengers than they lost.

If the original fault on Tuesday was with the loco, why would that Mk4 set (HD01?) not be out today with a loco swap?
It was caused by an issue in the coaches which damaged the alternator. No point sending it back out for the same fault to damage another loco until the problem has been found, rectified and properly sorted.

Very true. 1 major failure and 1 fault on day 2 is far from ideal and hopefully lessons will be learnt from the recovery and rescue operation. It was a combination of issues which led to such severe disruption.
1st class and in particular the vastly improved catering offer is already proving incredibly popular on some trains.

I seem to remember there was a similar problem last summer on the 0533 from Holyhead where the loco lost power and came to a stand at Gaerwen, and that took about 6 hours to be rescued. The good news there was that services could be turned at Bangor so disruption was minimised unless you were travelling from Anglesey eastwards, and there were only a handful of passengers who were evacuated reasonably quickly.

First class on TFW seems to be generally just a staff room. 1 maybe 2 passengers making use of it properly.

I'd say it would have been much better to have first class in the 1/2 carriage with the cafe and then have the current first class carriage as standard class. Suppose this is the issue though when they're doing it on the cheap (from the perspective of just reusing old operators seats and layouts, not making it their own layout.

I’m hearing reports of HD04 being possibly ready for the 06:27 of Manchester tomorrow so if anyone can confirm this that would be great :)

Edit

HD04 is now staying in Crewe and will form 5V33 on Monday.
Pending sign off of repairs HD06 will enter service on 1W93 tomorrow so 1V33 will now be a unit tomorrow.

Mk4 workings tomorrow
