I passed the CBI on the 22nd of December. Still no news about the DMI as of yet. I’m assuming they might be waiting until all the stage 2s are finished but I’m not sure
I take it there's been no driver manager interviews been sent out yet?

Excuse me for sounding daft, but by teams do you mean video interview? When was your CBI? I don’t get signal in work so wonding if I may have missed a call!

Thanks, good luck to you too. My CBI was on the 5th December.
Awesome. Well done for getting this far, all the best.

Seems like it might be getting done in order of when the people passed which makes sense. I’m really curious about it because I keep hearing different things. Some people say it’s harder than the CBI, some people said it’s way more relaxed but no one who has actually done it themselves recently have confirmed.

No one has said what the questions might be either so it’s all guess work but here’s to hoping for the best. Hope to see a bunch of you at the training centre. Good luck to you all

Or it could be being done by depot? Those who have got their DMI, can you say what depot you applied for? Thanks

Guess it depends on the toc I had a dmi with another toc last year and it was very relaxed and seemed to fly by but could be completely different for Avanti.

This is similar to what I’ve heard from drivers I know and people who have done it before. If you don’t mind me asking, if the previous Toc was fairly relaxed, can I ask why you aren’t working for that Toc. (I don’t mean to pry and I understand if you would rather not disclose)

The did DMI before psychometrics. Passed DMI but didn't get enhanced on TeaOcc.

Ah makes sense, thanks for that. You should be all good for this time with that experience. Best of luck mate

To be fair, I think anyone who does a bit of research on the Toc should do fine having recently passed CBI as you'll already have recently brushed up on a lot of questions they might ask. Good luck to you too!

Just had the email to say it's the end of the road for me for now. Unsurprised as I didn't feel the CBI went all that well, waiting on feedback to see where I can do better next time.

Does any one have a rough idea of how many drivers they are planning to recruit?
“40” is the number I’ve been seeing floating around but I’m not sure if that’s in total or for a depot or for just this recruitment or for the year. It’s all just speculation but it should be a fair few because they should be sending a lot of their current drivers to Italy I think it is to learn how to use the new units that will be introduced. When they are away, they will need the new drivers to cover their work as well as cover the spots that are already empty. That’s why there are so many courses going. At least 3 courses this year

I saw 40 from January 2022, and to be fair I think that was before the staff stopped working their rest days. ASLEF claim that over 400 services on Avanti West Coast relied on rest day working by their own admittance. Whether or not these have been filled or are being filled adequately remains to be seen, and I would personally take a guess that it depends on the depot as well.

Does anyone have an inclination in to a "typical" shift pattern for a Driver with Avanti?
Did you get any where with this. I have seen an old one floating about on this forum for I think, Manchester. I'm looking for one for Euston

I didn't unfortunately and found the same one for Manchester which gave me at least a slight indication on patterns.

What are the shift patterns like out of interest? It’s not really a question you can ask at interview but i am curious to know! I know what they are like at northern but not Avanti

One of the lads on my stage 2 psychometrics showed us a shift pattern of his uncles (believe he was Avanti Euston) looked like it was 5 day working week for 6 weeks then 10 days off but don't hold me to that.

Anyone know what thread the Manchester shift pattern is in?

Really.. that’s a lot of days for 35 hours a week. I thought they were 9hr shifts spread over 4 days a week usually. But different TOCs then just have different start and finish times and stuff

It might have been 4 day week, it was a while ago now and I was about to do my CBI so had other stuff going through my head while looking at it.

Wolverhampton is 5 day weeks with with every 5th week off. So averaged out over 5 weeks it is 4 per week (the 5th day adds up to the 5th week off) then committed Sundays as extra outside the working week
