From 06May73 I understand that BR shed codes were re-named from the old style alpha-numeric to the the new two-character ones. For instance Leeds (Holbeck) was 55A and became HO.
The London Midland Region was slightly different, as although there were individual shed codes to which shunters were allocated to, the bulk of the locomotive fleet was allocated to Divisions. So an 08 such as D3700 was allocated to Saltley (2E) which became SY. The main line locos in the area were allocated to D02, the Birmingham Division. There were three main depots (Saltley, Bescot and Tyseley), so how were the D02 Division locos allocated to a specific depot under the new coding system?
I'm using Birmingham as an example. The same question arises for other LM Divisions, such as D08 Liverpool and D09 Manchester.
