Rules vary by state, and I'm not sure what they are in Pennsylvania, but in some places a replacement is nominated from the same party as the deceased candidate rather than having what we would call a by-election.Alternatively, they do know that the candidate is dead but prefer them to the other candidates!
In reality, if you vote on party lines you have to vote for the dead candidate. Not voting may let one of the other parties win.
In this case it appears that they will be having, at a later date, what we'd call a by-election.Rules vary by state, and I'm not sure what they are in Pennsylvania, but in some places a replacement is nominated from the same party as the deceased candidate rather than having what we would call a by-election.
Again it depends on states, but most of them can vote by mail some time before the actual polling day, so the deadline for nominations has to be sufficiently far before that to allow papers to be printed and sent out.In this case it appears that they will be having, at a later date, what we'd call a by-election.
Still makes me wonder, given the chap died on the 9th of October i.e. a full month ago, why that wasn't enough time to find another candidate? After all we managed to find a new PM in a week, though maybe it was in typical 'Blue Peter' style - here's one I made earlier![]()
Many states also have early in-person voting. I just had a quick look here and in some states it starts as much as 40 days before the election day.Again it depends on states, but most of them can vote by mail some time before the actual polling day, so the deadline for nominations has to be sufficiently far before that to allow papers to be printed and sent out.
Article includes “It looks like an ordinary road sign”. Well to a degree, I suppose if you’d never ever seen a proper road sign, and you ignored the steel angle frame round it…You may be forgiven for thinking there were possibly better ways to spend £25k....plus, Ryanair never included it as Cardiff as a destination which sort of gives the game away....

Man ends 20-year Llandegley airport sign joke that cost £25k
Nicolas Whitehead has decided to remove the sign for the fictitious airport with a large fanbase.www.bbc.co.uk
Which would be obvious if you were standing looking at it, but in a car travelling at speed not so much. It certainly is close enough that you'd need to do a double-take.Article includes “It looks like an ordinary road sign”. Hi @NoContextBrits, we investigated your below query however, the person in question has made it very clear that he don't care.

And he has now filed for personal bankruptcy - his company had declared itself bankrupt shortly before the initial judgement:I didn’t want to waste a whole thread on this appalling grifter so this seems like a good place to put it.
Looks like reality finally caught up with Alex Jones:
Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has filed for personal bankruptcy after he was ordered to pay almost $1.5bn (£1.2bn) for falsely claiming a 2012 school shooting was a hoax.
Jones was ordered to pay the damages to the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting following a series of defamation trials earlier this year.
The most notable came in October when a jury ordered him to pay almost $1bn following a trial in Connecticut.
Jones has not commented on the filing.
The court documents - which were filed in Houston, Texas on Friday - say the Infowars host has between $1m and $10m of assets and between $1bn and $10bn of debt.

And any attempt to live or to be seen to live lavishly will be jumped on, would love to see him forced to do a really crap job as payback, but I don't know if there is anything demeaning enough.Oh I’m sure he’ll do that, however anything that makes his life more difficult is definitely a win I reckon.![]()
Who's now going to be presenting "The One Show"?!Looks like reality finally caught up with Alex Jones:
One of the Brian Cox's, once they've sorted out their hotel registrations.Who's now going to be presenting "The One Show"?!
That would be pretty humiliating to be fair...Who's now going to be presenting "The One Show"?!
I'd kinda like to see Alex Jones (US one) host the One Show, his bewilderment would be great to watch.
No the same usual stories but him presenting it....but I bet that the rest of the show wouldn’t be a treat to watch, except for extreme right wingers, but they probably avoid the pinko BBC.
Julia Roberts showed her support for George Clooney at the prestigious Kennedy Center Honours by wearing a custom dress adorned with his face.
The long black gown featured framed photos of the star throughout his career - from early headshots to his role as Doug Ross on ER and a famous polka-dot photoshoot for W magazine.
Clooney was among several lifetime achievement honourees at the event.
Rock band U2 and singer Gladys Knight were also recognised.
The star-studded event was attended by other celebrities and political figures, including Matt Damon, Patti LaBelle, Sean Penn, US Vice President Kamala Harris, Sheryl Crow, Garth Brooks, Sacha Baron Cohen and Sesame Street's Big Bird.
Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, also made his first public appearance since being brutally attacked in his home in late October.
Mr Pelosi, wearing a black hat to cover head injuries he sustained when an intruder attacked him with a hammer, received a standing ovation, and a fist-bump from President Joe Biden.
A floating restaurant has partially sunk into a lake at a major UK shopping centre.
Pictures showed part of the Miller & Carter restaurant, located in a converted paddle steamer at Lakeside in Essex, starting to submerge.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said it heard about the sinking at 11:00 GMT but crews were not required to attend.
The shopping centre said about half a dozen staff were on board.
A spokesman for Miller & Carter Lakeside said: "Regrettably, due to the scale of damage we were forced to close immediately.
"Our priority is our guests, and our teams are working hard to contact everyone who holds a booking with us to inform them of the unforeseeable incident and issue refunds as quickly as possible."
A further post on the branch's Facebook page reported the restaurant would be closed until "further notice due to structural issues".
The page said the restaurant was refurbished in October 2019.
