Alternatively, they do know that the candidate is dead but prefer them to the other candidates!

In reality, if you vote on party lines you have to vote for the dead candidate. Not voting may let one of the other parties win.

Again it depends on states, but most of them can vote by mail some time before the actual polling day, so the deadline for nominations has to be sufficiently far before that to allow papers to be printed and sent out.

Many states also have early in-person voting. I just had a quick look here and in some states it starts as much as 40 days before the election day.

Which would be obvious if you were standing looking at it, but in a car travelling at speed not so much. It certainly is close enough that you'd need to do a double-take.

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has filed for personal bankruptcy after he was ordered to pay almost $1.5bn (£1.2bn) for falsely claiming a 2012 school shooting was a hoax.

Jones was ordered to pay the damages to the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting following a series of defamation trials earlier this year.

The most notable came in October when a jury ordered him to pay almost $1bn following a trial in Connecticut.

Jones has not commented on the filing.

The court documents - which were filed in Houston, Texas on Friday - say the Infowars host has between $1m and $10m of assets and between $1bn and $10bn of debt.

A Miller & Carter restaurant begins sinking into a lake at a major UK shopping centre.

A floating restaurant has partially sunk into a lake at a major UK shopping centre.
Pictures showed part of the Miller & Carter restaurant, located in a converted paddle steamer at Lakeside in Essex, starting to submerge.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said it heard about the sinking at 11:00 GMT but crews were not required to attend.
The shopping centre said about half a dozen staff were on board.

A spokesman for Miller & Carter Lakeside said: "Regrettably, due to the scale of damage we were forced to close immediately.
"Our priority is our guests, and our teams are working hard to contact everyone who holds a booking with us to inform them of the unforeseeable incident and issue refunds as quickly as possible."
A further post on the branch's Facebook page reported the restaurant would be closed until "further notice due to structural issues".
The page said the restaurant was refurbished in October 2019.
