Thank you. Do you what type of interview is that? Also giving examples of situations or more informal?
More of an informal interview that'll be more about the job than driving. Similar to any other type of interview you'd have really

Congrats! It’s so weird how they’re working it seeing as people who done the 1st assessment over a week ago still haven’t heard anything… ‍♂️
Some people only had to do certain tests or only the CBI so the order of things is a little all over.

There may be a wait for DMIs though I would assume as if it comes down to selections from dmis they'd have to wait for those still going through the tests to catch up

Received an email this morning telling me that I passed my paper assessments done on the 30th! They are waiting on some dates for the computer stage assessments and will let me know as soon as possible, so I am not expecting to take any more tests until the new year. Still, that at least buys me some time, and a pass is still a pass!

Had a email saying I passed.
Sat the paper tests 1st December.
(Didn't sit these at Crewe).
Computer tests booked in for early January.

Does anyone know at what point they check references?
Considering that the CV was optional in the initial application I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't actually check references at all to be honest. That said, if they do check references my best guess would be around the time of the DMI perhaps? I can't be sure though so somebody more knowledgeable might have to correct me on that one.

Usually following a job offer and passing the medical - a lot of TOCs use a third party company for this who will contact current/previous employers on their behalf.

If references are checked for job offers, what happens to those who didn’t put in a CV in the initial application since it was optional?

Usually when they offer contract of employment they will ask you the details of who/where they can get a reference. Or sometimes they dont even bother...

But most people on their CV put "references available upon request" and simply wait for them to 'request' once they have an offer.

Ah right, thanks for clearing that up!

Can anyone confirm who's just passed the WAFV test that it's a dark grey square and it turns pitch black, which is when you press the button.

So one thing I've started to think about seeing as I'm going through to the computer testing is that these assessments followed by the CBI and DMI will likely determine where I am placed in the talent bank if I am successful, and that now has me wondering how long I might just be waiting for any vacancies while in the bank. Furthermore, I'm going for Liverpool depot, and very rarely have I ever seen even qualified vacancies for this depot which would lead me to believe that there is a low turnover rate. I understand that I could be waiting for years, but if anyone can give me a bit more insight into this, such as the depot's turnover or how Avanti usually are with talent pools, then that would be much appreciated, because I don't want to get my hopes up too much.

So from one shade (lighter) to dark shade of grey. And that’s it? No other variation. Are the two shades obvious from the beginning?
The two shades will be obvious from the start, however as the test goes on you will likely start to notice them getting darker. This isn't actually the case, it's just an optical illusion since you're staring at them long enough, and I think as long as you concentrate you will probably still be able to tell which square is which. But yes, I would say that the shades are obvious.

It's just a darker grey from what I've been researching. It's to test your concentration as at the start it'll be obvious but as the 30 minutes go on they'll likely start to look very similar

Yeah I just get lots of conflicting information from fairly new drivers at my work. They say it was pitch black, so I’m amusing they have changed it since 2019/2020.

I took that test in 2018 and earlier this year and it was definitely grey>darker grey both times.

I sat my computer tests on Wednesday and it looked black to me. The difference is very clear your eyes will play tricks on you though but just remember how clear it was at the beginning. I thought I had failed the hand eye coordination test with the joysticks but somehow I passed. Just waiting for results of CBI. Good luck on your tests!

Sure I remember reading that Avanti want to increase services from Liverpool, which will include shorter 7 car Hitachi sets which will stop at places like South Parkway. Hence more drivers at depots.

I sat my computer tests today and can confirm it goes to black :)

Passed all my tests to enhanced and did CBI so just waiting to hear back from that now. And then it’ll be onto DMI fingers crossed!

Has anyone else received an email telling them that they've been successful but not been given a date for the computer tests and are awaiting Avanti to give the OPC new dates?

Judging by the state of cancellations across TPE and Avanti going on recently, I think this being a talent bank may just as well also be an effort to get more staff and more drivers for their operations in the latter's case.

I think CBI went okay, like you say it’s hard to judge. But my answers to the questions were pretty in depth and he didn’t seem to grill me on anything (repeatedly ask the same question to one of my responses) which I’ve heard they can do if they’re unsure of your story so fingers crossed! Well good luck Gem & I hope it’s good news when you get it :)
