The isolation ought to be just Langley Junction - Corey’s Mill I think. So quite fortunate really. The 387s stuck on the up approaching Stevenage are likely to be stranded though.

The 9J seen at Welwyn North has I think been moved back as a wrong direction move to facilitate detrainment at Welwyn North, it originally came to a stand at Woolmer Green. There will no doubt be a train load of passengers at Welwyn North as a result.

Looks like they have started the Moorgate - WGC / Hertford trains again.

Should theoretically be possible to run Cambridge to Hitchin and Peterborough to Hitchin, but pretty thin on ground at the moment. The only GTR I can see in the area is a 9J currently around St Neots.

Lines reopening at 19:15, down slow and platform 5 will remain blocked.
Currently earthing lines so that the parted catenary wire can be removed.
Services now allowed to depart kings Cross, and services held further north have been released to head south.

KGX have announced over the PA that there will be a Moorgate to Welwyn Garden City service running, although I can’t see any evidence of it at the moment.

Long distance passengers being directed to LST/STP as appropriate.

I assume it’s an oversight but the NRE disruption page is not listing Thameslink or EMR as an alternative for passengers travelling to places like Stevenage.

Loads of people at the STP gateline waiting for trains to Leicester, where they are advised to change for Peterborough. Having assessed my options over a quiet pint away from the station it looks as though nothing’s going to Stevenage any time soon so I’m on a Corby train, crush loaded at the rear but those of us who walked to the front carriage are rewarded with a half empty carriage

Hopefully I will be able to get a 100/101 bus from Luton to Stevenage.

Very daft if railway is advising travel to Peterborough via Leicester, as when they get there they will all by trying to cram into a once-an-hour 170.

A person was rumoured to have jumped off the A602 road bridge. This was passed to Network Rail however this was deemed not to be the case.

The advice is to make your own personal arrangements, so I would say yes.

I will certainly be claiming my bus fare if there isn’t ticket acceptance in place

I have crossed that bridge using the path many times. It had occured to me that it would not be hard to throw something over the parapet. Some years ago the parapet was raised over some of the tracks, but not all. https://goo.gl/maps/mPqkfw2moTcu1RMh9 At 6 foot, I can see over the concrete parapet, but not where the metal has been added.

I have crossed that bridge using the path many times. It had occured to me that it would not be hard to throw something over the parapet. I videoed the platform 5 project and replacement point work for the junction from that spot. One of the things that was required as part of the turnback was to raise the height of the parapet, but as you can see in that video, this was only a requirement over the section of new track where the point for the turnback was installed.

The parapet height was raised above the new line serving platform 5 when it was installed a couple of years ago.

Presumably the height only had to be raised above the new line, the existing ones being ok under grandfather rights.

There is a police motorway post a few hundred metres away. The police station is next to the railway station. Not the first time a local incident has attracted rather more blue lights than seem needed. It is their decision.

Kings Cross station is starting to calm down now as they are letting people board the trains, working in the pub is hell during these times.

Trains are now moving southbound, but nothing northbound yet.

Got the 18:37 XC Derby service from York to Doncaster this evening, nearly didn't; announcements at York suggested the issue was South of York, which suggested between York and Doncaster, so I was a little unsure whether I'd end up on something stopping at Sheffield first.

Made it to Doncaster and maybe they could've brought another train in there, platform 1 was free and services were running to Sheffield. At least 2 Azumas sat at York in plt 5 & 6

It is understood someone dangled an object from a bridge on the London-Edinburgh mainline in Stevenage.

Rail passengers are being warned of serious disruption to mainline services following damage to overhead power lines in Hertfordshire.
It is understood a member of the public dangled an object from a bridge in Stevenage that hit the electric cables.
National Rail said some lines have now reopened but services may still be cancelled or severely delayed.
Hertfordshire Police said road closures in Broadhall Way have now been lifted and the road reopened.

Quite - slightly off-topic, but my phone was once stolen at Newark Northgate Station, which is just around the corner from the town’s police station. As soon as a 999 call went in from a member of the public who saw me go chasing after the thieves, all you could hear were sirens - three police cars, an unmarked police car, a police van and a couple of officers on foot too!
