Attempting to make PKP IC reservations online

Hi all,

I'm currently an issue with the intercity.pl website when it comes to Interrail reservations on international journeys.

I can't book anything outwith Poland at all. The option to select a 'discounted' ticket (I have an Interrail) simply doesn't exist. I'm trying to book a seat from Warszawa Centralna to Bohumin on Sept 11th at 05:59.

Can someone advise of a website able to do this please?

Thanks, I'll have a play with ČD later on.

Just had a quick try with the app and it seemed happy to offer it but then told me "price offer not available" and "technical error" respectively on my two attempts to purchase for 75kč.

*Edit* that has indeed worked. Not without it taking payment and apparently "failing" (with me being told to enter my details again, despite the reservation going through) but that's a good one to bear in mind for future PL-CZ journeys.

On the international journey in question, all services came up with 'reservation impossible' on DB. Indeed, in this case, it looks like the best option is to book with Ceske Drahy.

I used Canterbury Rail to do mine. Wasn't the cheapest (probably worked out £1 more expensive so wasn't a deal breaker) but very efficient.
Have found PKP site a pain, get to payment and it doesn't want to know. Don't even attempt to use it any more.
Your other option is just do it at the ticket office, best to go along evening time as very busy and, if you don't speak Polish, write out a translation of what you want as not all ticket ckerks can speak English.

What journey are you trying to book if you don't mind me asking?
For journeys within Poland, I think PKP IC is the only option, it can be done online and costs 1 zł (about 20p). For others, I use the ÖBB (Austria) app which charges €3 per reservation, though I find it a bit flaky at times when trying to book stuff outside Austria.

It was Gdansk Gl. to Warszawa Wschodnia on an EIP service a week on Saturday.

Thankfully the issue I had with the PKP site for that one was fixed (it was sending me on a perpetual loop of claiming that I both had an account already but also didn't have an account). It cost 43zł but I'm aware that's because EIP services attract a premium supplement.

Warszawa Centralna to Bohumin I booked through ČD in the end for 3€.

I have had problems trying to book reservations on PKP services too. Couldn’t do it on line and cross border services from Berlin came up with not reservable (yet compulsory reservation) on the DB website, booked in the end at a DB station day before. Trying to get out of Poland similar situation ended up having to go to the booking office in Poznan and queue for an hour to get served (3 windows open at the start but down to one at times towards the end) and eventually got our reservations done. Not a good experience and a great disincentive to travel by rail in Poland.

Being in Wroclaw right now, made a circular tour via the 2 fairly new weekend-only excursions lines into CZ today-and hit, completely unexpected, a major railshow in Trutnov/CZ, start of the september ´den zeleznice=railway days´ and came back in a hopelessly overcrowded (even worse as in DE with the 9€ on some lines) single 4-car KD-set from Sedzislaw. Then had some food and went into the special seated ´clients help´ office of PKP (after neatly waiting turn outside) to book a reservation on InterRail tomorrow-to Poznan-the lady could not speak english but what I wanted and her experience and with a little Czech/Slavic it was easily done and cost me 1 PLN. (=22 cts). The CZ sector of the leg from Trutnow was an 810 railcar by GW-trains, does not accept pass, but my (it would have been senior 50% off anyway) fare of <20 CzK (less 1€) was waived-conductor looked like a pensioner, spoke fluent cesky, polski and english too-and explained I would have to pay-but OK. He was very busy as after the border it also became very full and all tickets are sold on board. Strangely this trip was about 10 mins early all the time-as seeing the very informative screens, and it turned out by doing that-and apparently all people boarding were aware of it-we made the 3 mins connection into that KD set.
Again I point to community.eurail.com forum for all current issues on the pass and its myriad ways of booking-there is even a neat overview of howtodo it yourself. Which clearly states that the EC PL<->DE cannot be done online at all and one has to go into an office. Though there was a recent posting too that a passholder was charged full normal fare in DE-explanation unclear.
There are indeed several warnings on various forums/sites that PKP (runs the IC etc.) is not in its best form the last monthes-much overcrowding, due to shortage of staff and sets/cars and the usual travelboom post-covid plus the influx of Ukraynian refugees putting stress on all things transport.

PKP login is the username, not email address, you are all trying that right? Websites been down many times this year due to attacks from 'not Russia', obvs.
