Hi there, I am travelling this afternoon on an off peak service from King's Cross to Newcastle.

Because of the disruption, this won't be possible, and therefore I am going via Derby from St Pancras. Am I able to get on an anytime service? I was due to leave at around 1530 but I notice that all the trains after this time from St Pancras are anytime. Does this not apply during ticket acceptance, or would I have to wait?

My concern being that with services being cancelled ahead of the strikes tomorrow, I won't be able to get on a train if I leave it too late.

TIA!

It's important to note that the off-peak restriction is specific to the ticket, not the train (which means there's not actually any such thing as an "off peak service" as it depends entirely on what ticket you are holding). Therefore, it matters what the restriction on your particular ticket is.

Your ticket should say something like "see restrictions at nre.co.uk/9D" - if you go to that web page (whatever specific one is listed on your ticket) then it will tell you at precisely which times you may and may not depart using that ticket.

Thanks - it's an advance single. So booked on a specific train, not anytime as I originally said.
So in this case as long as ticket acceptance is made and you are travelling at the original booked time, you will be fine as there are normally no peak restrictions to Advance tickets (apart from a few Southeastern Advance tickets which prohibit using peak trains in addition to the requirement of using booked trains only, such as restriction SA).

Peak and off peak are not relevant to Advances, the acceptance will detail what you can and can't do, and absent it saying anything like "travel at a similar time" you can do what you wish.

Yes, the question becomes a different one entirely. But as it’s turned out the OP might have been able to travel from Kings Cross by now anyway…
