This morning in platform 11 at Glasgow Central I found no less than four trains - from front to back:

2A36 0654 to Barrhead (2×156)
1L79 0707 to Carlisle (1×156)
1A08 0725 to Kilmarnock (2×156)
2P08 0757 to Newton (1×380)
Total 13 carriages

Is this a record?!

These things frequently happen in the morning around the country after overnight set up of units for the following mornings start of service.

Presume platform 11 at Glasgow Central is the lengthiest at the station which makes this possible in the first place (and so also limits the number of other possible locations around the network where a similar arrangement might be do-able / practicable).

Leeds used to regularly do this for westerly departures, with 2-car Modernisation Plan dmus/Pacers.

Holyhead platform 2 regularly sees 4 trains in it ready for the start of service, and very occasionally 5 trains, if they’re all single units.

I have seen the sleeper at platform 11 in the morning when it can't get into it's usual stance at platform 1. It's quite a lengthy platform and if you look on google earth you can see it extends over the river Clyde.

Fairly confident that I've seen 4 DMUs stabled overnight at Leicester on the same platform - 2 XC and 2 EMT (as was), ready to head in opposite directions.

Apparently the 0700 to Ayr departed from platform 11 as well! (pair of 380s).

Most unusual instance I've seen was 5 northbound Valley Lines services in Cardiff Central platform 6 during a Millennium Stadium post event plan. Trains to Treherbert, Rhymney, Merthyr, Coryton and Aberdare, something like that. They had not detached from one convoy, it was just being coordinated between signalling panel and platform staff to keep the service moving. Probably less likely now with ARS as you only have a certain number of 'berths' in each platform.

I noticed that in RTT after the event and can confirm that it was definitely incorrect!

2A36 left, then mine (1L79) - neither sign of, nor room for, the Ayr train!

I believe RTT can get platform 10/11 mixed up, so the Ayr train used Platform 10 I think.

Probably was on platform 10 then.

It's quite common to have the units for five, if not six, services stabled at Nottingham in each of (usually) platforms 1 and 3 at the start of the day, e.g. first two passenger services to Worksop at one end, first Skegness leading at the other end, Lincoln behind that and finally a set of empties to Newark.

During the day, certainly pre-Covid, it wouldn't have taken much disruption to end up with five trains in a through platform. Leicester - Lincoln in first, followed by a Liverpool - Norwich to detach a portion at the rear, with an XC unit coming in behind that and finally an arrival from Mansfield dropping in on top for a short turnaround before going back out to Worksop. The first couple were booked to have left before the last couple arrived, but everything still had to be drawn right down to make room, and it would only have taken a 10-15 minute delay to the Lincoln going to end up with them all stacked up.
