and it is the christmas period and HR places only usually work monday - friday 9 - 5! (so probably off if they were anything like my last job! - wasn't railway related)Is it true that a qualified driver would have to start as a depot driver?
how do they inform you if you passed or failed the structured interview? do they tell you on the day if you have passed? or do they write a letter informing you that you pass or failed?
regards,
D
On the GE side you would have to start as a depot driver and wait for a main line position wether already qualified or not.

More sifting still to be done, followed by more assessments, so i hear?
I'm not so sure, 31A.
I have been reliably informed that BIS is currently over-complement. In any case the new services are not likely to require BIS drivers. In particular, the proposed 2tph ELY-SSD would be all CAM drivers due to the required route knowledge.

I had a structured interview yesterday, and was told I would hear in a few days. I hate waiting......... I hope that this was the normal way of letting you know and not just a polite way of refusing you.

Are you certain about that? I've never heard of such a policy at any other company, and it would make no commercial sense whatsoever. It's far cheaper to recruit qualified drivers if you can, and it is obvious that you need to get them productive as quickly as poss. In these times of recruitment based on "suitability", and the need to demonstrate transparency at every stage of the process, I find all these posts about shed drivers "waiting there turn" somewhat mystifying. It all sounds like a throwback to a bygone era, and not one that would stand up at an employment tribunal.
It would most certainly deter qualified drivers from applying!
