Exactly that, it's ridiculous that a problem north of the river means Thameslink services get cancelled south of the river
Seems a common current problem, to curtail services far and wide. An issue wholly on Chiltern at Neasden led to closures on the adjacent Met and Jubilee Underground lines. Because of this the Jubilee was suspended right through to Stratford as there was no short turn point for it. Ensuing closure of Canary Wharf Underground then put pressure on the DLR to Bank, which because of currently limited capacity at the latter was thus entirely suspended as well.

it is strange, but as Goldfinger said, once is happenstance, twice is coincidence…

It’s certainly quite an (Odd)Job to prevent it happening again. However, if they can get it right this time, I’ll certainly take my hat off to them.

(Sorry).

Your train is delayed by several hours by this.

Do you expect me to wait?
No, I expect you to drive!

I thought they had one or two at West Hapstead and somewhere else so had a look on Carto metro and looks like there are two plus a set of points north of finchley road so why didnt they use thesze?

the two ‘breaks’ are quite different in their cause.
Hope someone is taking a close look at what ultrasonics have been or haven't been picking up then. This is why it has the extended closure every Saturday night to identify potential issues as well as having the time to install a closure rail. Also last weekend Thameslink was closed all day Sunday.

Anyhow pleased to see them doing the right thing tonight and getting in there oh and at least putting stop orders on the 9Jxx for the day.

if, like me, you took a wander down the platform at Farringdon in the last day or two to have a look at this week’s defect, you’d see that not only had it been picked up, but it was marked up for replacement. The defect was still in date, but evidently wasn’t replaced quite soon enough. (Or in other words, deteriorated more rapidly than is usually expected for a defect of this nature).

the Grinder was out on Sunday, on that line, albeit not there, but no doubt that meant planning in a repair of the defect was more difficult.

Was 2 defects close together, 1 on each rail of the northbound lines. The one on the 6ft rail was clamped, and the one on the cess side was painted up with the dye.
