The 167xx Olympians at Preston. Noted three of them in service on Thurs: 16706 on the 4C, 16708 on the 59 and 16709 on the 2/2A. Of them only 709 had its old display in use. The other two had route boards or A4 paper in the window.
That could be down to the display types. 16709 is the only 1 of the 4 to be fitted with a Hanover Flip Dot unit. The other 3 are all fitted with Bright Tech Dot Matrix units. Data from the Hanover "KeyLo" sometimes works on the Bright Tech's, but Preston use (or did use) changing displays, which the Bright Tech DM's won't be able to cope with, for obvious reasons.
I'd imagine Preston will get the Dot Matrix's replaced by LED's at some point.
