A class 37 loco has just gone through Colchester heading in that direction possibly on a rescue mission!
Yes the unit working 1Y10 had to be rescued. Passengers detained earlier.

All lines reopened. Up Main line speed, down main at 20mph due to damage sustained to the Overheads.
Thanks for your earlier clarification re 1S06 - much appreciated. Looks like 1S08 just called at Retford to collect the passengers off the ill-fated 1S06.

Thanks for the updates
If the information screens at York are correct there should be four services heading to Edinburgh within a 15 minute window, the first being the 1035 service at 1507

The LSW main line between Exeter and Salisbury looks bad, just as the hourly service was due to recommence. RTT reports many trains cancelled or delayed "due to temporary speed restrictions as a result of heat (X4)". I think this is probably wrong but perhaps someone can explain it (trees down/flooding/stock or crews in the wrong place). Luckily I'm not travelling at the moment.

Yes, that is correct. Are there many folk waiting at York to travel north?

Initially 1S04 had Loss if air near Grantham, heavily delayed trains to rear.

After it all started moving, 1S06 has had an ADD and upon inspection a large fabric builders bag, the sort a tonne of sand would be delivered in, is wrapped around the pantograph, and side of train.
1E03 was stood due to that issue and also something was also hanging from the overheads in front of it.
1Z99 was 37518 from York, which took a Hitachi fitter to the site.
So 1Z99 is a 37. What happened to the LNER Thunderbird at Doncaster?

I think a few have given up but there seems to be a fair few leisure travellers hanging about the concourse with it being half term

My booked service to Dundee is now terminating in Edinburgh so assuming tickets will be accepted on Scotrail

York is probably where the nearest Hitachi Fitter was, easier to hire the 37.
Unsure if 37 was already a pre planned move to head south.

A glance at two or three actual trains suggests a 50 speed restriction over the whole route - wind rather than heat, one presumes :) - but no specific blockages.

Should be no problem with your ticket being accepted on a Scotrail service.
Thanks - yes that was confirmed almost immediately when boarding

Not hugely busy on the 1156(!) (at least in first) but a last minute platform change from 9 to 11 at York saw only a small number head over as another Waverley bound LNER was approaching 9 (with an earlier one loading on 5B too).

It’s a good job it’s not chucked it down along the south coast… Eastbourne station and the concourse would have been completely flooded given the roof damage here.

Seen a few workmen milling around down there this morning, I guess nothing can be looked at until these winds subside.

GWR running a fairly steady if not reduced service now from Paddington - 1tph to Bristol, 1tph to W. Country, 1tph to S.Wales. Even though the blanket speeds have been removed, the amended diagrams are in for the day and will be difficult to amend so far into the evening. A few late night extra services are also expected to run to ensure decent stock position for Tuesday morning.

This is what they say online

No reference of a tech fault.

It is at least stating that trains to Farnham are running when you go to the live departure board

The 4.58 Reading to Redhill arrived in Redhill ln time. Does this mean that line is a slow speed or the 50 mph restriction hadn't come into force at this point

But it seems not to have affected Guildford fo Farnham line, which is showing as running.

I am surprised they didn't try to run fewer services today, as Great Western Railway is doing.

Also companies like SouthEastern were saying yesterday not to travel but SWR were just saying please consider if your journey is necessary. They do say do not travel now though.
Most services at Southampton were showing as cancelled this morning, staff were advising passengers not to travel. The TVMs were not in operation too, wonder if that was to deter people. The cross country services were running but with speed restrictions.

Travelling on my usual monthly journey from Fratton to Cardiff today, I’m rather irritated to see that when my ex-Portsmouth train arrives and terminates at Bristol T.M. at 1848, the next train to Cardiff is not until 2021. Absurd.

There seems to be a 1511 Sheffield-Manchester via Swinton/Huddersfield running, presumably because the Hope Valley's shut:
It's not showing updated passing times on RTT, but on the traksy maps it's already passed Swinton.
EMR website reporting a landslide at Edale.

The line north of Derby is closed. Probably due to flooding as Derby is gridlocked due to several flooded roads due to the Derwent. The A6 up to Belper and Matlock is also blocked in several places.

I don't know of this will change but currently, the latest service to run from Redhill to Reading is the 19:58.

Been watching the GEML carefully at work today, still got fingers and toes crossed the timetable will be back to normal for tomorrow afternoon's trip.
I see no reason why it shouldn’t return to the latest reduced timetable. The storms are behind us & no major damage has been done apart from a couple of damaged emus.
