Yes. Large tree damaged OHL at Stortford amongst other areas. They where hoping to reopen tomorrow morning but I wouldn’t hold my breath with Franklin fast approaching.

Network Rail confident line will re-open but reduced timetable across whole network. Norwich intercities all terminating at Colchester.

I note it doesn't cover every part of Great Britain and jn particular can't see what is going on between North Camp and Wokingham.

Nope. Area's with mechanical signalling are not covered due to no "feed" being available, the site works off of a data feed from network rail. Thereby, it only covers areas it can obtain a feed for.

The site can still be very useful though. There are other sites like traksy and signal maps (to name just 2) who may have more coverage in other areas not covered by OTT though.

When the line squall hit our house (Greater Manchester) this afternoon, the gusts were stronger than any we had on Friday. And rain like stair rods!

Fortunately it passed through quickly.

Just passed through Nottinghamshire about 20 minutes ago. Only lasted about 5 minutes but it was like someone was throwing buckets of water at the windows and gusts of wind at least as strong as Friday afternoon. It’s been raining here since early this morning but almost stopped now the squall has passed through and it’s a bit brighter.

Yes just had a browse on Wikipedia. Seems it’s varied from 0 to 50 occasions annually. Most years it’s less than 6.

It does feel as if, since covid, this country's default response to any difficulty is to now tell people to lock themselves away indoors. Simply not practical, nor is it sustainable!

As was noted in the Storm Eunice thread, the reputation of the railway is going to suffer significant damage from this spell of bad weather and TOCs everywhere giving up on getting people where they want to go - very few issues on roads/buses/coaches.

It's any kind of inclement weather now. Strong winds and heavy rain is not abnormal but you can't trust the railways to cope with either. Be it trees falling onto tracks or flooding. Not to mention snow or frost. It's been a mild winter at least.

The scale of Friday's bad weather is rare but here it was a worse storm in November and tonight promises to be worse too.

I don't know if the Exmouth line is closed but a 6-car Class 150 is being used on GWR 1A86 from Exeter St. David's to Reading. I suspect this is also is to do with the 50mph speed restrictions in place.

More to do with the fact that the Exeter AOM and Duty Manager is a massive ned given the chance

Well, the Reading-Waterloo line has as non-existent a service today as it did yesterday. There's been an attempt to run two trains, neither of which ran throughout. 56 hours and counting since SWR last managed to run a train that ran throughout down here.

And the information is comically bad on SWR's journey check. At the moment they are showing 5 trains cancelled across SWR. Clearly that is not correct: there's more than 5 cancelled on Waterloo-Reading alone!

Then we have comments like this:

Facilities on the 19:56 Reading to London Waterloo due 21:39.
Disabled toilet facilities are not available at both ends.
This is due to severe weather.

The industry needs to get a grip on its messaging, and fast. Despite all the modern communications tools we have, they somehow manage to still put out confusing, unclear (and indeed just plain wrong) information to the punters.
