I had a phone call yesterday for my medical next week. Apparently there might be a course 21st of March. :)
Was the phone call from a no caller id? Found out I passed the dmi yesterday and then I had a call from a no caller id. They never left a message just wondered whether it could be from recruitment

They send a email to let you know you’ve passed the Dmi, then they will ring you on no caller I.D to arrange the medical :)

Does anyone on an existing course know if you are doing an apprenticeship ? The reason I ask is I do not have GCSE in IT and have heard this is a requirement. Also I do not have my results from my GCSEs, so would have to contact the exam board. Can anyone shed some light on what would need to be provided so I can get them Now before course offer. Do you need your GCSE certificates etc ?

We are doing the apprenticeship but the people who had their qualifications and those didn't all had to do the same tests anyway. You'll get signed up then get given log in details to do the tests at home.

What’s this for ? Fundamental/key skills course ?

It is the key skills course, call the WEST tests I believe.

I didn't have my GCSE certificates but did have my A Level certificates. Again it didn't matter though, if you don't bring any certificates it isn't an issue.

Ok, thanks for that. I’m panicking because my High School is no longer there so I have to contact multiple Exam boards. As I do not know which ones hold my results.

No free parking in Cardiff for new traincrew either, only discounted season tickets.

Free car parking is available at certain depots for train crew but neither Chester nor Cardiff are amongst them.
great bit of info.
would you know if free parking available in shresburry?

i work in Cardiff currently, if anyone is driving and needs to park. There is free parking on Virgil Street, just get there before 8. It about a 5 10 minute walk from the training centre.

Mine went paper assessments in a hotel.
Computer assessments and mmi a few weeks later.
Then finally DMI a few weeks after that.
I only used the material they sent me for practice.
This forum is great for answers too. :)
hi
not sure what is DMI?

Same here mate, interview in September and got told just before Xmas about the course. I’m in for Crewe too. Can’t wait to get started now. Congratulations on passing everything.
Cheers mate same to you to.

When did they let you know about the course start date?
Early December. Do not worry if you have not been contacted yet. From looking at this forum, although I do understand not everybody who has applied will be on it, it looks like they are right near the end of the talent pool in both the North and the South. If not on this course I would be sure you could very well be on the next one.

Fab. Well done JRogers.

All TOCs now have to do the apprenticeship. A mate of mine is on one for another TOC. They do this diagnostic to see if you will need to do the full English, Maths and ICT. If you don’t have your certificates I think it just means you have to do all three diagnostics. Many people will not have ICT at GCSE level, my mate hadn’t and I haven't so do not worry about it. Have you had a start date for a course yet?

No Course date, I was only placed in the pool last Thursday, but I am hopeful of a start date in Spring ! I’m just excited and can’t wait to start.

When the college visit on your first week, if you haven't got your certs they will ask you to sign a form to release the details, they do it all for you so don't panic too much.
