This is around the Miles Platting area; all the masts installed so far look like 4-track (or more) portals - you can tell by the hinge joints at the top. The mast nearest the camera in the 1st shot is "MVL/02/08"; in the 2nd shot it's "MVL/02/01".
Looks like they're taking a leaf out of TRU E1's book with the nomenclature, going for "Engineers' Line Ref/Kilometrage from datum/structure no. in that kilometre range". By that logic, there are at least 8 (almost certainly more) structures in that km range, and the code will persist along the route until Heaton Lodge, where it becomes MVN (with km's via the Calder Valley, presumably) until Thornhill LNW it where it changes again to MDL.
I had a quick trip Manchester Victoria to Stalybridge and back before work this afternoon.
From what I saw, I'm impressed on what I saw. Obviously subject to confirmation, but these were my observations;
The retaining wall after Bromley Street Jn (around about where the 40 starts) next to the Up Slow has 3 brackets in situ (similar to the ones departing Bolton for Lostock), there seemed to be another over on the Down Rochdale Fast side but couldn't process it in time.
There are at least 7 stanchions on the Down Rochdale Fast side of the track, they look a mixture of portal supports and TTCs, but again a limited view of them.
There are 5 stanchions on the Up Slow side, again a mixture of designs implying portal/TTCs.
These are on the approach to Miles Platting Jn, none yet visible on the Ashton lines.
Piles still upto the M60 motorway bridge, only one observed on the Down side between there and Ashton Station.
Cess clearance visible from M60 Bridge to Ashton Station, but no signs of any work between Ashton and Stalybridge.
There seems to be new style AWS magnets installed between Miles Platting and just before Ashton Moss Jn. Some of these are in the middle of nowhere, and some seem to be in relation to signals, so unsure if some signals are going to be relocated due to sighting issues?
