Reported as just one unit - 365524.
Thank you very much.
Interesting thought that one might have been one off the units involved.
So looking like part off it as discussed will go by road onwards to ekr from Newport.
However quite interesting though as the Belmont units appear to be going one by one. However thanking you all for the information.

All four carriages of 524 are going to EKR? Or are they mix-and-matching with 530 540?

From what I gather, the plan is two vehicles from 365524 (presumably the trailer vehicles?), plus a driving car from 365540 which has already been moved.

I *think* 72287 is the non-pantograph trailer but does have the big loo - whether that is stripped out or retained remains to be seen.

Ok. Some video have been shared of the Class 365 arriving at the EKR.

It is on TikTok (you have been warned). 1st and 3rd video are of the 365. 2nd video is of the SERA Class 457 being rotated (how you turn a train without a turntable).

Anyone seen any confirmation anywhere that it is 65917 and 72287 which have been saved and delivered to the EKR?

That looks like at Belmont, with the 91 next to it.

Wonder why they are ripping out the seats - for use by EKR, perhaps?

From what I gather it's a driving car from 365540 which has arrived at Shepherdswell. This would seem to suggest that only two cars from 365524 are to be preserved, I think the plan was only ever for three cars. So not a complete unit, sadly.
I just don't get this... What even is the point of preserving 3 coaches of what have always been a 4 coach unit? What possible good reason if there for not adding a fourth vehicle (the extra driving vehicle).

Space on the railway prevented it.

I think it's a case that three is better than zero, especially if three is what there's space for. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good and all that. I believe complications over the logistics resulted in the driving car from 365540 creeping in.

Of course, these units should have been in frontline service for a good 10 or so years.

That certainly a pragmatic and practical way of look at it, for sure.
Another would be a few track panels in the car park for the fourth vehicle, pending future developments. Once it's gone, it's gone.

Quite. Plenty of good rolling stock going to waste at the moment, rather than cascading out older stuff.
Lack of any central coherent rolling stock strategy, resulting in wasted cash (again). But we can disappear down that rabbit hole forever.

Siemens only ”preserved” three coaches from a four car 332. So it’s not even the first time that this has happened.

There are only two DMBTs from 4DD unit 4002 preserved so it’s definitely not the first time it’s happened!

I will create a thread in the Railtours and Preservation thread. There is way more than those listed and i will try and fill the gaps on why some EMUs are incomplete.

As the unit is highly unlikely ever to be anything more than a static display it doesn't really matter too much, particularly if the host is acutely short of siding space
