:) Thanks for the prompt and helpful reply.

Been looking for publicity material to that effect, but still haven't found anything yet!

Not necessarily, for example Euston to Holyhead is 24th Dec to 03rd Jan for all TOC's using the SVR, and there seems to be no easement for Glasgow.

But most any permitted SVR's valid on Virgin do seen to have that Virgin only easement.

Ok for Glasgow Avantix is wrong again as the easement is missing.

For Holyhead there seem to be 2 easements and I missed the Virgin one.

How does restriction VO work with the press release then?

Validity
Code
VO
These restrictions apply Monday to Friday. By any train on other days.
For travel to: Milton Keynes Central
Outward Travel Return Travel
You may travel on any train that is
scheduled to DEPART
You may travel on any train that is
scheduled to ARRIVE:
London Euston Between 0905 & 1514 (inc.) and at or
after 1832
Between 1055 & 1645 (inc) and at or
after 1830
Please note:
Off-Peak restrictions on Virgin Trains services will not apply from 24th Dec – 1st Jan inclusive

And talking about Milton Keynes there seems to be no easement for EUS to MKC restriction LY SVR route: virgin trnsonly or any premitted in the PDF or Avantix.

Can these still be enforced if virgin have stated that there is a blanked easement?

Hi,

I am writing in this thread to save starting another one for the sake of one question.

I plan to go on a West Midlands Day Ranger tomorrow, I notice that it is not valid until 09:00, does this restriction still apply with the current weather situation and with it being Christmas holidays?

Thanks in advance,

Yes,

TOC's don't like selling rovers a lot of the time so it's highly unlikely that they would agree to an easement.

Super Off-peak - return part thereof (destination Wolverhampton). The strikes which are now off might well have done me a favour......
The normal restrictions for WVH - EUS Super Off Peak Return (OPR) rtn portion are:

Not valid for travel on London
Midland services timed to
DEPART any station between
1630 and 1930 in either
direction (except for the 1829
London Euston to Crewe service
) unless a connecting
service is being used to
complete a journey begun at a
valid time.

If the 1829 is cancelled, then I would of course expect you to be conveyed on an alternative service. There is no easement in the restriction code for the festive season.

I can't find any specific easements due to the weather or the (now aborted) strike, this and this doesn't say much!

If you want to go at 'peak' time my advice is arrive in time for the 1829 and if it's cancelled, I believe they should let you travel on an alternative service and not make you wait until after 1930.

Thanks for this - I am, of course, worried about the ongoing snow in the midlands and getting from the final station to my folks! Is it likely that the current weather will result in any easing of restrictions?

The 18:29 has that easement because it's the last Trent Valley stopper of the day. I'm led to believe that OP tickets are also permitted on the 18:49. There are trains after 9pm from BHM to Lichfield, Rugeley and Stafford. Possibly Tamworth as well.

I'd approach staff at Euston and ask. If it is that bad, then it is in LM's interest (as well as yours) to let you travel earlier, than ask you to wait and then have the risk of them having to pay for a taxi to your destination if you miss your connection due to delays. I would expect common sense to prevail, but please do let us know how you get on. Good luck!

Unless there's an official easement then it's down to the discretion of Revenue.
