ABC have resumed their Dropout podcast to provide updates on the courtcase:

John Carreyrou who wrote the Wall Street Journal article that started the collapse of Theranos and then wrote the book Bad Blood about the company has released a podcast Bad Blood: The Final Chapter as an extension to the book, since at the time his sources were very limited due to the Theranos legal threats but aren't now he's been able to dig a lot deeper:

I came across one called Immaculate Deception which is about a fertility doctor who was fertilising the children himself amongst many other serious problems, I didn't think it would be of interest but it's a good podcast that investigates the topic in depth and gives you an understanding of the terrible impact:

I'm not keen on the presenter or style of this podcast but it's still quite a fascinating story about a business I hadn't heard of that was refurbing out shared office space which seemed a good idea at the start that went horribly wrong:

Some good new recommendations to try there, thanks everyone.

Having completely caned my way through most of what BBC Sounds has to offer I’ve ended up using Spotify more and more for podcasts recently.
I wonder if anyone else on here has got into ‘Behind the Bast*rds’ by Robert Evans yet? I think it’s excellent and very funny if a little bleak at times.

‘Redhanded’ is a great true crime podcast that covers all kinds of different subjects:

‘British Scandal’ Is a good tongue in cheek show with Matt Forde and Alice Levine discussing various incidents from the Barings Bank collapse to the Sex Pistols, usually with four episodes to each story. Funny and interesting.

This programme from 2009 was rebroadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extra recently

Train Tracks
They may be a shadow of their former infrastructural selves but railways still hold a curiously affectionate place in our national life.

That's nowhere more true than in the world of music where chuffing, whistling, steaming and clackety-clacking have been the inspiration for hundreds of songs.

Pianist and broadcaster Simon Townley has never described himself as a railway enthusiast, but he's always had an ear for the things that inspire composers and songwriters.

Country and Western star Laura Cantrell, music professor Allan Moore and composer Sir Richard Rodney Bennett contribute their thoughts on this mass transit system which has provided such a rich seam of inspiration over the last 200 years.

A couple of new ones i have come across:

Getting sacked in the morning: BBC Scotland produced pod dealing with football managers. Quite light but gives a bit of behind the scenes information by interviewing a number of former managers at all levels in England and Wales.

We didn't start the fire: Takes the lyrics of the eponymous Billy Joel song and takes one entry per episode to discuss the 2nd half of the 20th century. Slightly off beat but deals with some big topics. Interesting if different.

I’ve downloaded a couple of them to listen to but haven’t had a chance to hear them yet. If you’re recommending them I’ll give them a go.

I’ve listened to quite a few of these and they are good actually.

I’d like to recommend Gossip Mongers. Very funny and it’s probably fair to say a little rude at times.
Don’t listen if you’re easily offended, but I had to pause it and take my headphones off at work the other day because I was laughing too much to paint.

It is fairly easy listening and is no doubt part of the mangers/former managers after dinner repartee but there are some nuggets in there.

I will check it out - thanks!

Another I have come across recently: Fighting on film.

They discuss war films and the equipment used therein. It is quite geeky but good. Who doesn't like a war film?

Now, Where Were We? is a podcast with Barry Cryer, his son and a guest chatting in a pub. So far, the guests have been Stephen Fry and Danny Baker.

The Rest is Politics: Downing Street Director of Communications and Strategy Alastair Campbell and cabinet minister Rory Stewart discuss politics and current affairs with a connection to their past experiences. Quite light but interesting. ( Worth noting both have been kicked out of their parties! Stewart seems to have had a complete breach with the Tories describing himself as an independent)

Yes. :)
I was going to suggest this the other day and didn’t get around to it. I’ve been really enjoying this one too.

It is surprisingly interesting despite not being the hard hitting political analysis you might expect. I expected a lot more disagreement but they both seem to get on really well. Also: Stewart REALLY hates Johnson.

He really does doesn’t he…
I’ve actually really warmed to him having learned a bit more about him now. I think we probably would be doing quite a bit better as a country if he’d managed to end up as the Conservative leader (not that that would be difficult).

I think to be fair almost* all the other options than Johnson would have been better.

* Perhaps not the objectionable Andrea Leadsom, as she's a long way right.

I thought it’d be worth an update to see what everyone has been listening to?

Lately I’ve been listening to The Rest is Politics:

https://open.spotify.com/episode/2VyprZnjD93ZNyi7M89R3x?si=bWXVSg-6Rgm-vEZ5xveogA

The Rest is History:

https://open.spotify.com/episode/0FDYdMhGUsSuBVavLqvzNZ?si=jPaSyRR0R0iy5aNArUHw5w

I Could Murder a Podcast:

Scotland Yard Confidential:

And a few other things. All of the above are entertaining and I’d definitely recommend them.
@DarloRich - I saw you mention Cold War Conversations in the football thread. Is that worth a listen?

There’s loads of episodes so if it’s good that’ll keep me going for a while.

@Cowley - yes Cold War Conversations is fantastic. So many different voices from the cold war period. Everything from domestic life in the east block to top level military and politics.

The rest is history is always good and i am really enjoying the rest is politics as it covers many more topics than you might expect

I always recommend we have ways of making you talk as a great podcast. If you are intrested in ww2 it is the show for you!

These are some that I've listened to recently:

The History of England. These are spoken essays. There are ~350 so far, through to the civil war.

Drunk Women Solving Crime. The title describes it pretty well.

Easy German. Half hour episodes with native German speakers speaking clearly with fairly simple Germany, but at a normal conversational pace. You can also watch them on Youtube where there are subtitles in English and German.

The Script Apart podcast is an interview with a movie script writer about one of their first drafts. This is a really good episode about Terminator 2

Career in Ruins. Archaeologists talking about their careers.

Crushed by Margaret Cabourn-Smith. Interviews with people about their unrequited loves

Three Bean Salad. Mike Wozniak, Henry Paker and Benjamin Partridge in rambling conversations.

My Time Capsule. Guests list 5 things they would put in a time capsule, with Michael Fenton Stevens.

Comfort Blanket. Joel Morris talks with guests about films, TV shows, books or music which makes them feel safe, happy and welcome.

Some interesting stuff to try there thanks for that.

@DarloRich - I’ll start listening to the Cold War stuff this week then.
We have ways is excellent too and I think I’ve probably listened to all of them by now. The episode on the road to war by German historian Katja Hoyer the other week was fascinating:
