All of the above are Enviro 400 MMCs, with the exception of 25219 and 25265 which are Optare Versas.

It may have been 25219 you seen as that has been running services out of Cumbernauld.

Ironic how 25219 and 25265 have returned home in a sense, with the SF plates indicating they were new to Western.

The loaned ones seem to be just doing the COP26 work; I've not seen them on any service work up here.

Alexander Dennis Limited (“ADL”), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), one of the world’s leading independent global bus manufacturers, today announced that dignitaries from around the world, including UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, travelled in a fleet of BYD ADL Enviro400EV electric double deck buses during the 26th United Nations (“UN”) Climate Change Conference of the Parties (“COP26”) in Glasgow, Scotland.

ADL collaborated with transport group Stagecoach in providing ten electric buses and drivers for the VIP transport, which took dignitaries from the core COP26 campus in the conference’s secure Blue Zone to an evening reception at Glasgow’s iconic Kelvingrove Art Gallery hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales.

Guests travelling on the buses included UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, among other state leaders, negotiators and COP26 stakeholders.

They rode on ten of the UK’s favourite electric buses, built in Britain by the BYD ADL partnership which has delivered or taken orders for over 1,000 zero-emission buses to date. The buses, which arrived at COP26 fresh from ADL’s production line in Scotland, have been built for Stagecoach’s operations in London and are painted in the iconic red of Transport for London’s buses.

Stagecoach is the largest bus operator in the United Kingdom. It is committed to purchasing renewable energy across all its businesses, as well as targeting a zero-emission UK bus fleet by 2035.

Paul Davies, ADL President & Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted that world leaders have had the opportunity to ride on our world-leading double deck buses. COP26 is focused on finding solutions to the climate emergency and we are proud to have been able to demonstrate a zero emission solution that is available right now. Clean electric buses such as the ones world leaders travelled on last night are key to reducing transport emissions around the globe and encouraging modal shift to sustainable transport modes. Zero emission buses are available today and ready to be rolled out at scale.

I seen a few of their deckers last night ferrying police officers to Braehead just after 8pm last night. I assume they are billeted at the Premier Inn there.

Ironic how 25219 and 25265 have returned home in a sense, with the SF plates indicating they were new to Western.

25265 was new to Bluebird for the 747, and has never previously been with Western (except possibly a fuel stop at Kilmarnock on its way down to Cumbria).

Saw 11268 yesterday. It was on "contract" and first seen by myself at Stockwell Street, ran all the way along the Broomielaw, passing me at Jamaica Street bridge, didn't see which road it turned up but next seen crossing the Kingston Bridge southbound and then arriving into Springfield Quay.
Seems a very long winded route! Only Stagecoach decker seen yesterday apart from 10932 on the X19.

On the subject of new buses, would it be a shout to maybe start ordering electric double deckers? Granted the MMCs for the 11 aren’t that old, but since it’s such a busy and prominent route in Ayrshire it would look good for them to go electric.

Means that they could also displace MMCs for other work within West Scotland.

Yeah, the E400s came in 2011 and went out in 2018, so 7 years. It seems they like to chop and change things every 5-7 years.

So it would check out if they were planning on renewing the deckers. I think an E400 City fleet like what Lothian have in Edinburgh would be suitable.

I'm surprised there has been no comment (that I can see) regarding the serious cutbacks in service level on the X76 Kilmarnock-Glasgow Express. From 3 buses per hour to 1 bus per hour off peak, surely indicates a disastrous drop in carryings - any comments?

The X76 is rarely full during the off-peak time. If anything the X77 is much busier and faring slightly worse as that is also 1 bus per hour compared to 2.

From what I’ve seen, the X76 is still coping well with 1 bus per hour.

Yea I think putting the x77 back on deckers and x76 back to usual frequency with all single coaches would make more sense. I believe it's only 1 hour off peak as still experiencing driver shortages. Its why the service 6 is killing still isn't running

Correct, basically a stagecoach version of the X5. Think it also went via moodiesburn to allow the X25 to go fast via the M80.

There are Levantes due to go from Aberhill depot in Fife down to Stranraer/Dumfries very soon. This is due to Fife getting cascades from Stagecoach East in Cambridgeshire, so they'll possibly be put on the 500s once they arrive.
