Thought I'd create this thread for people to post sightings and workings of the remaining 26 non-PRM Class 321's so that the last workings can be recorded. Their derogation expires on 31st December 2021 after which time, they will not be allowed in service. This means there are 7 weeks left to "grab 'em while you can"

I have the following still active in service/warm store:

321.331/335/336/337/338/339/340/341/342/343/406/409/410/421/423/424/426427/430/433/434/436/440/441/447

433 worked 1N17 13.31 Clacton - Liverpool Street instead of 427. Of course, each was coupled to a PRM Renatus

I think 427 had worked up as 1N10 11.37 from Liverpool Street, can anyone confirm? It went to the depot

342 arrived (with a Renatus) with 12.37 from Liverpool Street. It formed 1N15 14.31 return

So are they mainly running Liverpool Street to Clacton?

I’m thinking of having a day down in London in December to get haulage by as many as possible

Saw 432 at Worksop today
Has been since middle of June 2021.
Moved up with 321428.
However since mid October 2021 to Tuesday 09th November 2021.
321429 321419 321332 321407.
Also have visited worksop.
But are now at wolverton.
Interesting what for parcels.
Or possibly like the 442 component recycling and road to Newport?.

Yes. Also southends are very good still in the main during the day.
However some gaps with 720s.
Clacton is good 1305 1405 1505 departures and 1105.
Braintree be wary only 1000am and 1600pm.
Is a 321.
For daylight it's the 1000am from there.
Morning only from colchester town to London.
A few to Ipswich.
Plenty at rush hour to southend Victoria but in the dark.
However early December is better than later December.
Ie just before December timetable change.
Please be wary off any early 720 replacement.
Also please be wary off what northern did early to the 142 ie end off November.
However I am sure early December prior to timetable change will see a fair few.

How have you concluded that. They’re not mainly running anything, they run Liverpool Street-Southend Victoria/Braintree/Colchester Town/Clacton/Ipswich/Harwich and are shared with 720s

I have noticed that the silver ones and the red door ones are quite rare nowadays

i asked the question earlier and the only reference in response was the service I mentioned.

I’m trying to piece the information together from the replies given.

do they leave Fenchurch Street?

No not fenchurch street.
But my post ref 12. is a honest account.
Morning services from colchester town are 0935 to colchester.
Same unit also does 1035 colchester town to London liverpool Street.
1135 is one from colchester town to London liverpool Street.
Ecs off colchester sidings does 1535 colchester town to London liverpool Street.
Also Ipswich is 0923 1451 to London liverpool Street.
1651 is also one but in darkness.
Southend Victoria is 1030 1050 1210 1250 1310 1330 1410 1450 1530 1610 to London liverpool Street.
Here are some examples off daylight non prm 321s due to time off year and services booked to work.
However disclaimer please don't be too disappointed iff two retanus ones turn up instead off a non prm one.
Also be wary also off a possible 720 substitute as well taking place.
Also recently vice versa had a non prm 321 on a 720 diagrammed service.
However I have given some services to choose and go from.
All you need to do is plan the workings from London liverpool Street to clacton braintree etc which form these.
However what services I have mentioned on here are correct Upto December timetable change.
Once again disclaimer subject to 720 substitute or 2x retanus 321 or even ex x2northern rail ones 3219 3224 etc instead off at least one being a ex non prm one.

As far as i’m aware no

The best place to get them is between Shenfield and Ipswich where the units actually produce where as a stopping every 3 minutes on a 50mph line to Braintree isn’t as enjoyable as 100mph up the GEML

Overnight they stable at Clacton, Ilford, Colchester, Harwich and Southend Vic. Between the peaks on weekdays many berth at Orient Way and Colchester. Off peak/weekends the branch services to Harwich Town, Walton on the Naze and Southminster are still completely 321 Renatus, though occasionally a Walton diagram may have an extra unit (normally an un refurbed unit) if there’s a problem with the single Renatus unit.

@50002Superb

If you are coming to London you can get a payg oyster and use it to Stratford or Shenfield on Tfl stopping services. You will see everything at Stratford; wide variety of rolling stock etc. You will also see all 321 workings at Shenfield before the main lines split to Southend and Colchester

Thanks for this.

Isn’t the Manningtree to Harwich Town a 321 set normally?

I am thinking of travelling down in the Friday night with an overnight stay in Southend so that we can see whatever is parked up there first thing Saturday

Usually yes.
But is a retanus one.
As the nonprm ones cannot run in service solo.
