It appears there are no first class fares from Worcester or worcestershire parkway to Birmingham. Very much a first world problem I know, but since all the trains from parkway to Birmingham have first class, presumable someone might want to travel in it. What happens if a std class ticket holder sits in first and asks to excess, and there is no fare? Is this likely to be an omission that is sorted soon?

If I recall correctly, if a correct ticket can't be sold for the requested journey then a combination can be sold instead. Would require manual processing of the excess, though, so I suspect if it was a one off many guards would just let you off.

Have you thought about reporting this to XC? They set them, and have no trains without 1st, so it's a bizarre and likely unintentional error.

Think West Midlands Trains are the fare setter as regards the Worcester Stns-> Birmingham Stns flow.

In theory, you would only be entitled to sit in first if you have a first class ticket (in this case, it would need to be for a longer distance journey, breaking your journey at Worcester/shire Parkway), or if there were no ticketing facilities available at your boarding station (i.e. ticket office closed and ticket machine is not working).

In practice I suspect either no fare would be charged, or some sort of compromise fare would be charged (e.g. the Weekend First upgrade to Cheltenham, which is £7.50).

Worcester Stns is effectively Worcester Foregate and Worcester Shrub Hill.

West Midlands Trains are fare setter to Birmingham Stns from the above stations whereas XC is the fare setter from Worcestershire Parkway, presumably because XC provides the only direct service from Worcestershire Parkway to Birmingham New Street.

Unless brfares.com is wrong, the fares from Worcestershire Parkway to Birmingham Stns are set by XC. I was surprised, but they are.
They've done a complete botch job of it!

XC have override fares in the system from Worcestershire Parkway to Birmingham Stations, as well as Worcestershire Parkway to Birmingham New Street. Quite why they introduced separate override fares to both destinations, I don't know...

Both sets of override fares are virtually identical to each other, as well as to the WMT 'base' fares. The only differences are:
  1. the override season ticket to Birmingham Stations, which is priced at £36.80 a week vs £38 a week for the WMT base fares and XC override fare to New Street
  2. the CDR has the same restriction (JF) in both directions, whereas the WMT 'base' fares have an evening restriction out of Birmingham (DI), when bought from Birmingham
However, it's worth noting that WMT also apply override fares from Worcester Stations to Birmingham Stations, which again are identical to the 'base' fares, but for the CDR which has restriction DI in both directions.

If you write to XC they will probably add the First Class fares.

If you or someone you know wants to travel in First Class on that trip for some reason, a hassle free solution in the interim would be to just buy a single from Worcestershire Parkway to Coventry, providing you're happy with the price at £16.50 one way.
