You have my sympathy Gez!

Actually, come to think of it, all 3 Leylands were out today, though 14208 only did a staff shuttle (that I saw).

I keep forgetting that the large number of Olys parked up at the bus station at lunch time isn't indicative of the vehicle situation. Moral of the story; stay away from LBS at 1200-1300 unless I'm going home!

16447 on 300.
34218 on short 300.
34079 on 47.
47024 on Moorclose 51.
47006 and an LED Solo on Harrington.

14258 went up towards Stainburn at 1305 from Workington. the Profile for 1320 X5 was already in the bus station, and tacho'd 20436 was on the annexe, so I'd have thought that if something broke down on X4 / X5, 20436 would have been sent, not a Leyland. so don't know why it was going up that way!
20473 and 16652 also on annexe.

47005 is the other bus on Seaton.
20923 ASDA Free Bus.

Can anyone tell me where Marshall Dart T606 JBA ended up? Fairly certain it was ex-Lillyhall before being used by the Police to exhibit stingers. I've seen sister vehicles for sale with Ensign, but not this one.

It went onto disposals this month, and I expect it will follow its siblings to Ensign. So the answer to your question; it's still stored at Lillyhall.

Tacho's will not be required for X61 when it begins to operate from Chorley on the 9th Jan 2011, neither will the X2 operated from Preston.

I've finally found how this is going to work!

The routes are to be split into 2 halves; X2/2X and X61/61X with neither half requiring a tacho.
Apparently it's perfectly legal for one driver to cover the whole run with no tacho (provided out and back for a half isn't long enough to require a tacho), passengers to buy through tickets and remain on the bus at the midpoint.
All that basically happens is that the number on the front gets changed!

similar-ish to 86 & 89 then!
Lancaster - Fleetwood via Knott End, split into Lancaster - Knott End 89 and Knott End - Fleetwood 86. "Buses run through Knott End to/from Lancaster as Service 89. A change of bus is not always necessary."

Nearly right :) The X61 will be an X61 throughout but with a driver change every time at Chorley, hence why its operation is being transferred there. This is how the 555 works at Kendal.

The 2X will operate between Preston - Southport while the X2 will be Southport - Liverpool. The 2X will change to the X2 at the fire station end of Lord St while the X2 will change to 2X at the Morrisons end, that way Southport visitors will be able to get the same route number back to where they came from wherever they are on Lord St. The advantage is not that drivers will not have to use tachos, but that they can drive for 5 and a half hours rather than 4 and a half. Occasionally at the moment a driver may not make it back to Preston before his 4 and a half hours are up, so he has to transfer his passengers at Penwortham and park his bus up for 45 mins.

A similar thing happens in Eastbourne

I've heard that another reason for splitting the X2 is to help driver rostering.
Currently, as it requires a tacho, the pool of drivers are split between Megabus and the X2. As Megabus takes them to London, they have to stay on tacho routes all week, whoich clearly makes rostering difficult.

The X2/X61 and megabus rostas have always been separate but yes your right, in theory ANY driver on whichever rosta they may work can be called upon to drive the X2 as long as they know it and not have to have a tacho or fill in their 'book'. Of course, this will save Stagecoach money in training and drivers who didn't comply to tacho regs.

Workington... Yay.
Ex Lillyhall K877 GHH / 40040 left the JB Pickthall premises yesterday on a low loader bound for Cobus. It will be returning to Cumbria in the livery which it wore when new (Honister Rambler green and cream).

I'd say all the KX51 solos need bombed... although 47007 aint too bad
Solo on 50 and step-entranced bus on 51 is rare, 51 starting first in the mornings always gets the LF allocation with 50 getting the steppy!
...Welcomeee 07andrew by the way :)

Not NW, but whilst at the Metrocentre today coming back to Newcastle City Centre on 27509, the Stagecoach NE driver allowed a handful of people on with Go North East (Go Ahead) return tickets! ahemm

I missed some spottings 20923 and 35246 on 30/31. (I was a passenger)
20436 (after it spent the morning on 600) and 14258 (scrambled bright tech) on annexe.

Is 20451 going into service at lillyhall or storage?

there's a chance it worked the 1640 Carlisle - Workington 300, which stays at Lillyhall over night, then works the 0655 Workington - Carlisle the next morning. possibly wouldn't start up in the morning for the 0655?
I wasn't around at them times to see what worked the 1640 300 on thursday evening. If 20904 was on 94's, then 20451 would have been available so could have worked that 300!

Does anyone no if 52629 is getting service at Carlisle after it was withdrawn from Preston?

yes. it is ready for service now. its main use is for rail replacements, but it will see use on school work and the 685 as well. I will be in Carlisle on monday morning to see if it makes it onto 685.
it has replaced Interurban 52408.
