I had a quick response to say don't panic and that it was sent to all candidates. Phew!
I didn't get any response/acknowledgement when I confirmed I am still VERY interested ha. Only reponse I've ever got was to ask for NI and heard nothing since. Did everyone get a response from today's email?

Yes, as follows:

"Thank you for your email. Please be advised, we have transferred to a new recruitment system. If you query is about a current application, we will be in touch as soon as we are able.

If you are currently registered with the old website, please note to apply for future vacancies you will need to re-register on the new site before applying. The web address is still www.comeaboard.co.uk but it will look a bit different.

All roles currently advertised with Acorn (Trainee Driver and Trainee Conductor), will continue to be managed through them until they are formally closed.

Thank you for your patience while we launch the new, exciting e-recruitment site"

I've been told there are lots of courses planned for the next few months. We will see I suppose.

I've applied for Shrewsbury when the advert was originally out. I've since had to give my NI number several times but heard nothing back since. I've also completed part 1 and 2 to enhanced with another TOC which they are aware of. Does anyone know if they have filled the vacancies at Shrewsbury hence no response

Don't think Shrewsbury is the priority at the moment so it's just a case of waiting.

It's really hard to say. It's not like they're just filling vacancies as and when they come; they're filling up a talent pool and using it as need arises. Shrewsbury has had several retirements recently with more soon to come, and it's also seen it's headcount increase so there's been a steady stream of trainees coming through there for a while - it's hard to pinpoint which vacancies exactly trainees have been filling.

As always, as frustrating as it is, all you can do is sit and be patient and try not to read into anything you hear about other depots. They'll do Shrewsbury when they need to and there's not much you can do to speed that up I'm afraid.

One thing I can tell you if it's any comfort; you're not the only person who's been waiting a while for progress with an application at Shrewsbury, so I wouldn't worry about something having gone wrong or that you've been forgotten. It's just a lot of work for a very small team to process and they've been working on other things right now.

I've been waiting since last September also. I'm waiting for mainline, I have heard there will be a few valley courses soon, and maybe mainline in November/December time.

You’ve been in the talent pool almost a year and are restricting yourself from getting offered a position by waiting for mainline?
Maybe you have reasons for that but I wouldn’t take the risk on missing out. There are internals waiting to transfer over which should be taking priority over you aswell so that should only push you back.

I’d personally try and get my foot in the door and put my name on the transfer list after a year of productive service. Each to their own though.

I also had the email yesterday, I did reply straight away to the email. It was to the same email address that I received it from? Is that right? I did email Laura as well just in case lol

I was asked what my preference would be so had to choose one. I have since had a medical and as mentioned was told possibly November/December.

I spoke to Laura quite a while ago and was told no one usually goes over the 2 year limit, unless by thier own choice. Also as much as we get frustrated waiting, I was assured that they would not invest time and money on us in the process if there was no realistic chance of getting a job

I am prepared to wait. Reading up, I like the company, I like the depots, I like the traction and I like the routes. I have only just passed out as an MDD but I applied for the role at TFW before applying for this one. I am glad it may be up to two years just means I can give my current TOC some time :D. That is if I am successful!

Does anyone know where medicals for the North depots take place?

ta
Most often it's Chester but it can be in other locations, it depends on where is available. They'll supply train tickets to get there if necessary.
