Looks like the steam loco on the Saturday could be Black Five 44871. According to its owner (on another forum) it's going up to Fort William on Thursday to replace 45231 which has worn-out tyre flanges. The other Black Five, 45407, is staying there as a standby loco but it too has low tyre flanges. No idea what that means.

Superb EltonRoad, thanks for that. A quick look on UKsteam.info shows it going from Carnforth, No timings on yet though. It should have been going to Grosmont NYMR the previous day.

Is it booked to run via the 'rare' curve between Lenton South and Lenton North then? Presumably the Beeston call is to avoid the reversal at Nottingham, which can only be achieved using that curve.

According to the letter I got, it is because of platform restrictions at Nottingham, So yes I would say there will be a rare using of the Lenton South Lenton North curve. I can't say for sure, but apart from a reverse at Beeston back through Toton, I can't see any other option.
