Anyone know which driving vehicle from 001 has been saved (78400 or 78401), and could confirm the date and destination (presumably, Sims / Newport) of the remainder of 001 and also date#/ destination for 014, many thanks.
78400

I'm not sure which Wikipedia page you're looking at, but British Rail Class 332 - Wikipedia clearly states "Following BAA being granted rights to operate services from London Paddington to Heathrow Airport, 14 trains were ordered in July 1994 from Siemens."
Exactly.

1994 was several years before Siemens went on its rolling stock manufacture plant buying spree so they couldn't to everything themselves in house for EMUs at that point, bodyshells being the obvious gap.

It's reminds me of a painted advertising hoarding, like those old vans you see by the road sometimes!

How many vehicles from 001 are going to Siemens? Photos on WNXX show a driving car and an intermediate, and mentions there being three plinths but it's not clear whether the third one is for another 332 vehicle or something else.

I know, but surely other train suppliers have hydrogen interests and although "Breeze" is probably a brand it also describes rail hydrogen trials.

It is exclusively an alstom/eversholt brand, and using it for other manufacturers just creates confusion. Porterbrook's hydrogen trail train is "hydroflex", vivarail (the only other 'confirmed' uk project) has decided against any silly names

Three is correct!

It's good to see (part of) one of these trains preserved, even if it is static. The dark blue front actually suits it surprisingly well. Is there any specific reason Siemens has chosen a pre-existing old train for this purpose rather than just putting the livery on the body shell of an IET or something more relevant, other than it was probably going cheap?

Errrrrrrr, why would they be using the bodyshell of an IET!? 332001 is highly relevant, being the first unit of the first new train order Siemens won in the UK.

Three is correct!

Are they going to use them for interior demonstrators or anything? If it's just effectively an ornament at the entrance a driving car on its own would do the job,.

Sorry, IET as in any 80x, not the GWR specific ones, hard to find a common name to call them all. Could have just paid to get an extra body shell in whatever spec currently on the production line, would surely have been cheaper than a whole train.

Yes, but why are Siemens going to plinth a competitors train outside their factory?

Wait, sorry I'm dumb. I totally forgot they weren't a Siemens product. Get Hitachi and Siemens mixed up too much.

D-Train ;)

HydroFlex, I feel is a good way to compliment (but also distinguish from) the 769 Flex.

332001 is currently located at goole for siemens advertising purposes, the interior looks the same, but i doubt it is driveable

Reports suggest that the coach with the pantograph isn't one of the three coaches being plinthed.

Even if they were, they are unlikely to be sticking a brand new train on a plinth!

Still a bit weird, as the visible part, the bodyshell, wasn't something Siemens themselves made, so if anything it's promoting one of their main UK rivals CAF!

Indeed arguably a 332 unit would make more sense outside the CAF factory in Newport, seeing that it was CAF's big breakthrough in the UK. Siemens have been in the UK since Victorian times

Arguably the 360s would have been more suited but maybe purchasing them would have cost more.

Likely to be a case of what was available - nothing which Siemens has been solely responsible for in this country is likely to be scrapped in the near future.

Who’s to say Siemens didn’t design the body and simply get CAF to build it?

The class 60 body’s were built by Procor? I believe but they’re still known as a Brush product.

How is this any different to - for example - manufacturers of bus chassis showcasing their chassis model in conjunction with WrightBus, despite the fact that WrightBus also build integral buses?

If Siemens were that worried about CAF getting a foothold in the UK market, then they wouldn't have worked with them to start with.
