Class 332 final week and scrap moves

I saw the scrap movement to Sims Newport while exercising in Acton. I wasn't close enough to read the headboard.

I'm told 78401 has gone to Sims Peterborough. Rest of set is at Goole.

Yes, there were a few posts mentioned this on Saturday, referencing a photo on the wnxx news page.

Thanks. With that headboard text, it's no wonder I couldn't read it!
I think the "F231" is the number of the ship that the loco is named after, "HMS Argyll".

Units were 008 and 004. HEX depot is now empty.

They aren't preserved! They are in commercial use which isn't the same thing.

Next week the class will no longer exist on NR or preserved rails. Which was the last class, loco or unit, where this happened?

Does HS1 count as Network Rail? Otherwise that would include the Class 373!

It’s almost like they deliberately binned one driving car just to stop any ideas for re-use!

Seriously, it is good that at least part of a unit has survived. They were pretty novel and futuristic units at the time, the whole HEx operation is very “1990s” in terms of ethos, design and style, so it’s good that a fragment of this survives.

I’m sure there will be plenty of room for the speculation to continue with the 333s!

Not my local trains, but I’ve a slight soft spot for them, the previous red livery suited them well IMO.

Was getting pretty tatty though, and the interiors were a mess - seat covers falling apart and lino was patches on the patches. The refurbishment was better than the normal Northern standard!

True that! I wonder why they didn't just have the 2 driving vehicles with the pantograph car then they could've made a nice little mini-set outside the Goole factory.

While they're stylish trains, the most unique thing about them was the interior, with their video screens, and even the interior isn't the original one, so it's not as if there's any "heritage" being lost through scrapping them.
