Why is it “the science” rather than just “science”? I’ve never heard “science” take the definite article before this year.
'Science' = the collective knowledge we have built on evidence, studies and centuries of growing understanding

'The Science' = The government's interpretation (or bending) of the above to suit their political agenda

THE SCIENCE is a bit of an internet meme, but it is intended as a joke or was until recently anyway.

The thing is "Science" isn't this monolithic single-minded beast, "science" contains many viewpoints and deductions, often changing. You'd never know it from recent media and political attention though.

Exactly. There isn’t always agreement with scientists so you can use any “science” you want to make it fit your needs.

here to eternity
Whenever either the number COVID deaths or infections passes a significant number eg. 10,000, 100,000, 500,000 or whatever it is described as "a grim milestone".

Are wheeling those trainers you can get with wheels built in? Or maybe means scooters?

god knows if it was for Scooting about then by all means just say as it is, maybe she thinks for people doing stunts on streets with cycles/skateboarding, it’s never been clear what it means or is it a bit of American acronym?

I didn’t know you could get trainers with built in wheels, I thought people bought the wheels off eBay, Amazon to attach to trainers?

Wheeling (wtf is that?).... just in case no one believes me on that https://www.transport.gov.scot/coro...-plan/guidance-on-travelling-within-scotland/
By walking, wheeling or cycling if you can you're improving your own health and helping to keep public transport for those who need it most.

I believe wheeling is just using a wheelchair - I imagine they would thing saying just walking or cycling would exclude those with mobility issues.

Would it not have been easier just to say that instead than “wheeling” or for that matter just to say wheeling someone?

“In line with government advice...”
(closure of premises in the week leading into lockdown)

“I will not hesitate to put the brakes on”
(BoJo said at several press conferences)

“Back to square one”
(Back into lockdown, phrase mainly used in Scotland)

“Difficult times”

“Write-off”

“NHS”

“STAY HOME >> PROTECT THE NHS >> SAVE LIVES” (during the lockdown)

Not directly linked to the virus outbreak, but a number of words that I can think of include:
Incompetence. Mental health. Depression. Suicide. Unemployment.

The last four possibly entirely due to the first word?

"NHS heroes". No. It's a job. A job that I do. I like to think I do it well, as anyone should do in any job. I'm paid quite reasonably for it, that's my reward. If I didn't want to do it, then I can resign.

"God Bless the NHS". Nope, not a religion either. It's a state owned organisation that we pay handsomely for with our taxes. It's also far from perfect, and is utterly inefficient. Whilst 95% of the staff have the best interests of their patients as the top priority, 5% are in it for themselves and are either lazy or self obsessed.

Oooh that will raise a few heckles ! lol

Can't believe everyone else has missed this but 'New Normal' which is a term I can't stand.

The way I understand it, its meant to be things have changed to what we have known previously, the only difference I see is hygiene has been upped to previous (yet why now?), ie stores/supermarkets/restaurants....

I know in some places like gyms they have put distancing in (have not got access to the gym yet either but from the emails I have been getting they say this) as well as more cleaning being done too (asking members to do so after equipment too)
