They are functional, just not very good.
They move, they stop, the doors open and they close. But they don't hold a charge and aren't too great with hills.
We're in the very early stages of viable electric buses and everything is still being worked out. The only viable option for operators seems to be the BYD ADL partnership. Hence the order for 4 deckers.
The order for 4 for Lothian is a massive gamble. If these work out over a long period of time and demanding use, more will be ordered. Until then Remember, diesel will be the norm. Remember, Edinburgh is a very specific market compared to London and Birmingham, where electric buses are becoming the norm. Up here, we tend to be a lot more hilly, with centralised depots and facilities.
Today was sat at a bus stop and I noticed that the fact you could buy any ticket with contactless finally appeared on the display, it also mentioned Tap Tap Cap, but it said "Pay more than a Dayticket with Tap Tap Cap!"

That seems poorly worded, as I’d guess it means “you can pay for more than a day ticket [e.g. one child single and two adult day tickets]” all on one card.
It’s a simple thing, but they really should think these kind of things through before publishing it.

It is running, however you will need to walk over to St. Davids Street (where Tk Maxx is) to get on a bus.
Can anyone tell me which of the following routes I can expect to be a double decker?

There are a couple of peak-time X5’s that are operated by double deckers. Off-peak it’s all singles though.
My apologies, it says never pay more than a day ticket however the word never is on the line above which is what got me confused

I think so yes
Yes, you can buy any combination of tickets with contactless as well as using the same card for an individual 'tap tap, cap'.

It is also best to keep in mind that for some reason the 'Tap, tap, cap' does not include the Trams. Ideally it should be fully integrated and swtiching between any of the "lothian" transport modes should be included in the 'Tap, tap, cap'

Theres multiple there, as reported in a previous post.132 + an Ex Arriva in Lothian Country now at Ensigns.
Make sure to ask for the ticket BEFORE scanning your card or it will charge you an adult single automatically.
