Train branding after the Williams Review

Up to 4 now - 222104 as well as their first 3 170s in the full aubergine, with a smattering more sprinters in an interim livery. Seeing as none of the fleet they inherited is destined to stay, it's a bit pointless for them to get re-liveried!

Quite - almost always the first question asked. Pointlessly in my humble opinion. (unless you are a design consultant seeking well paid work)
I suggest blue and grey - quite serviceable if kept clean.

Interestingly, if you go to a fully nationalised operator like SNCF, you find that practically every train is in a different livery.
They either promote France, the Region, the City, the local TER, the latest film, or any sponsored ad that takes their fancy - often all of them at the same time.
A bit like our "Ginster's Cornish Pasties" phase on Wales & West, sadly long gone.

It always amuses how - invariably "livery and branding" is often the first consideration - I was being tongue in cheek about blue/ grey though self and one other got "reversed BR" on the 350's for WCML in 2003/4. We were pressed for colour by Siemmens and it was done over the phone - we claimed it was a review of the old Manchester Pullman colours. Fairly neutral and not bad.

I remember well the W&W "Ginster" - it was OK , and the HoW 153's were superb. Local liveries are great. I was very dissapointed that the "Evening Standard" did not do some North London Railway 313's in their decals as they did with a good few of London Black Cabs. They would have stood out well on the viaducted NLL and "racing" down the DC alongside the WCML.

It would be nice if we had the 6 regions of British rail and turned them into sectors. InterCity would also have Its own sector (yes, they could revive it). I don't know what will happen with concession TOC's and Open Acces TOC's.
