Anybody have any idea as to what the long term plan is for KL's school runners? It may be that they will be the last 3 remaining K reg's in the region soon. I'm not even sure if they need them anymore...

20994 and 16651 on 301!
47617 replaced 47061 on Whitehaven - Maryport 30.
47023 replaced 47024 on Workington Town Services
16654 came in from Carlisle area, "Sorry, Not In Service". it went straight through the town centre and up to Lillyhall. a possible failure on 300 yesterday returning to its home after a quick fix??? (it was a famous LL driver driving)
If SC are going to run journeys to Preston College are they just going to re-commission the route they used to operate?
Looking at one of Jonesy's pictures I think it was the 16 http://darryl-p-jones.fotopic.net/p65864834.html
MAJOR CHANGES TO SERVICES IN CUMBRIA FROM 29 AUGUST 2010
TIMETABLE CHANGES
Barrow Area Changes
5 Barrow - North Scale
The timetable of this Cumbria County Council service is revised, with some journeys withdrawn on schooldays.
6, 6A, X6
This service will have a revised, improved and much simplified timetable. Buses will still operate every 20 mins Monday to Saturday daytimes and there will be no changes to the Sunday timetable. The new X6 service will provide additional fast buses between Ulverston, Croftlands, Barrow and BAe Systems, replacing the old 6S. The school and college day diversions (6B and 6C) via Rating Lane will be discontinued and all buses will now follow the standard 6 or 6A routes. The little used off-peak 6X journeys are withdrawn.
7 Barrow schools and colleges - Askam - Kirkby - Broughton - Millom
These services will be extensively revised to meet the new Cumbria County Council contract commitments from the start of the school term. Buses to John Ruskin School at Coniston and Dowdales School at Dalton, will now be provided by other bus companies.
7A, X7 Barrow - Askam - Ireleth - Kirkby - Broughton - Millom - Haverigg
Unfortunately, we will be withdrawing the majority of the timetable on these routes. Cumbria County Council are investigating the possibilities of providing replacement facilities, including whether to continue with the evening and Sunday buses. Sadly, the quicker rail service, combined with heavily subsidised rail fares, means that the bus is not an attractive option along this corridor and we cannot compete on level terms. More information will be available in a few weeks.
10 Barrow - Ulverston
11 Barrow - Ulverston
60 Ulverston - South Ulverston
511 Ulverston - Broughton
All of the above-mentioned Cumbria County Council contracted services will be withdrawn by Stagecoach and will pass to other bus companies. Further details can be obtained from the County Council.
M1, M2, M3 Millom and Haverigg local services
There will be some additional journeys and we are pleased to announce that these services will be operated with low floor, easy access buses too!
In addition, there will be changes to many school services in the area, affecting 512, 513, 730, 735.
Carlisle Area Changes
71 Carlisle - Anthorn

94, 97 Carlisle - Brampton / Hallbankgate
The timetable will be revised.

Going on holiday in lancashire and Cumbria and using a NW Explorer or the new 7 Day NW Megarider Gold Ticket at £24 becomes less and less attractive.
Perhaps a holiday in South Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales and using the Arriva Norrth West and Wales 7 Day Saver ticket at only £16 will be a better idea.
I can sort of understand what you mean, but really there aren't that many cuts;
6B and C are incorporated into 6 and 6A.
6S is withdrawn, and along with 6X is incorporated into the X6.
7A and X7 are withdrawn, but the core 7 remains.
I'm fairly sure there'll be alternatives to the 10 and 11.
All of the services being withdrawn by Carlisle operate less than 8 trips per day, so IMHO that makes sense.

Now the new Scanias have arrived for the 40 / 41 Service, are there any plans for withdrawal of the last Leyland Oly's. Hopefully they may keep them a little while longer so that the 17*** Tridents can receive some much needed TLC, their paintwork is staring to look very tired.
Just seen 17020 heading through Garstang on a 42
And alot of money, LED units are very expensive.
Indeed but all the 170** are having LED's. 17018 and 17022 are the only remaining ones without LED's so they should receive them soon when ME can squeeze them in.
All 4 Scania's were out in service on saturday.
They have the L.E.D Blinds for 17018 and 17022 it is like you said time to squeeze them in.
Word of mouth is that 4/5 17xxx tridents will be leaving and the 3 leyland olys(14208 is a defo). Fleet changes might happen over the summer hols.
