40033 wasn't really a good one like!
seem to remember it being withdrawn from LL slightly earlier than planned due to the clutch dying out!

Anybody have any idea as to what the long term plan is for KL's school runners? It may be that they will be the last 3 remaining K reg's in the region soon. I'm not even sure if they need them anymore...

I been meaning to ask about them, as i have not seen any of them for a while now. Due to being stuck in Lancaster all day, every day.

About 12-months ago, it was rumoured that 2009/2010 school year would be their last year of use.

When ever i see any of the Dallam School buses, they trend to be the H-reg'd Olympians.

I think it all depends on whether the capacity is needed any more. I can't remember why they were converted I think there was a specific reason. They could be replaced by deckers or actually just normal B10's. D2 used to be have a runner on it all the time but whenever I see it these days its a decker.

If they were really committed they could pull out the seats and CCTV and stick them into 3 younger B10's but I imagine this wouldn't be worth it or cost effective. Its a shame they don't have coaches. SC have converted some Interurbans into school buses down south, the livery looks very odd and can be seen here:

Pictures not mine.

If SC are going to run journeys to Preston College are they just going to re-commission the route they used to operate?

Looking at one of Jonesy's pictures I think it was the 16 http://darryl-p-jones.fotopic.net/p65864834.html

The SchoolRunners will no longer be required for the QES 99 from September, so I imagine (given what I've seen of Dallam routes) that they'll be replaced with standard B10Ms.

I'd agree with that Mbonwick they'll sell em on as school buses and make a little profit out of them lol. Obviously there really isn't much wrong with them at all.

The 16 wasn't ours it was a college contract, when LCC took it over they all gained a 9 prefix, thus becoming the 916.
The extras will be run as regular 40s

Aha, Mad-Andrew! I got the silly wave when I passed him on High Street.

It would seem that Lillyhall are rather short on tacho'd B10s since the withdrawal of the remaining K regs. Its about time they get some of the R regs done. As two are needed for the 600 and one is often used to cover for Profiles and there are only three!

MAJOR CHANGES TO SERVICES IN CUMBRIA FROM 29 AUGUST 2010

TIMETABLE CHANGES

Barrow Area Changes
5 Barrow - North Scale

The timetable of this Cumbria County Council service is revised, with some journeys withdrawn on schooldays.

6, 6A, X6

This service will have a revised, improved and much simplified timetable. Buses will still operate every 20 mins Monday to Saturday daytimes and there will be no changes to the Sunday timetable. The new X6 service will provide additional fast buses between Ulverston, Croftlands, Barrow and BAe Systems, replacing the old 6S. The school and college day diversions (6B and 6C) via Rating Lane will be discontinued and all buses will now follow the standard 6 or 6A routes. The little used off-peak 6X journeys are withdrawn.

7 Barrow schools and colleges - Askam - Kirkby - Broughton - Millom

These services will be extensively revised to meet the new Cumbria County Council contract commitments from the start of the school term. Buses to John Ruskin School at Coniston and Dowdales School at Dalton, will now be provided by other bus companies.

7A, X7 Barrow - Askam - Ireleth - Kirkby - Broughton - Millom - Haverigg

Unfortunately, we will be withdrawing the majority of the timetable on these routes. Cumbria County Council are investigating the possibilities of providing replacement facilities, including whether to continue with the evening and Sunday buses. Sadly, the quicker rail service, combined with heavily subsidised rail fares, means that the bus is not an attractive option along this corridor and we cannot compete on level terms. More information will be available in a few weeks.

10 Barrow - Ulverston

11 Barrow - Ulverston

60 Ulverston - South Ulverston

511 Ulverston - Broughton

All of the above-mentioned Cumbria County Council contracted services will be withdrawn by Stagecoach and will pass to other bus companies. Further details can be obtained from the County Council.

M1, M2, M3 Millom and Haverigg local services

There will be some additional journeys and we are pleased to announce that these services will be operated with low floor, easy access buses too!

In addition, there will be changes to many school services in the area, affecting 512, 513, 730, 735.

Carlisle Area Changes
71 Carlisle - Anthorn

The timetable will be revised, with some daytime journeys now provided by other operators, under contract to Cumbria County Council.

73, 73A Carlisle - Keswick (Caldbeck Rambler)

Minor timetable revisions.

75A, 91A Carlisle - Caldew School (Dalston)

These services will be combined into one and will no longer be available for general travel. Customers must purchase season tickets in advance, from our ticket agent (Tanzo-Go) on Carlisle bus station.

94, 97 Carlisle - Brampton / Hallbankgate

The timetable will be revised.

95 Carlisle - Brampton

This service will be withdrawn by Stagecoach and will pass to another bus operator. Further details can be obtained from the County Council.

101 Carlisle - Rockliffe

This service will be withdrawn by Stagecoach and will pass to another bus operator. Further details can be obtained from the County Council.

185 Carlisle - Brampton

The timetable will be revised, with many journeys changing bus operator.

214 Penrith - Carlisle College

Minor timetable revisions to improve reliability.

620 Carlisle - Caldbeck (Wednesday shopper)

This service will be withdrawn by Stagecoach and will pass to another bus operator. Further details can be obtained from the County Council.

680 Carlisle - Nenthead

This service will be withdrawn by Stagecoach and will pass to another bus operator. Further details can be obtained from the County Council.

Going on holiday in lancashire and Cumbria and using a NW Explorer or the new 7 Day NW Megarider Gold Ticket at £24 becomes less and less attractive.
Perhaps a holiday in South Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales and using the Arriva Norrth West and Wales 7 Day Saver ticket at only £16 will be a better idea.

I can sort of understand what you mean, but really there aren't that many cuts;

6B and C are incorporated into 6 and 6A.
6S is withdrawn, and along with 6X is incorporated into the X6.

7A and X7 are withdrawn, but the core 7 remains.

I'm fairly sure there'll be alternatives to the 10 and 11.

All of the services being withdrawn by Carlisle operate less than 8 trips per day, so IMHO that makes sense.

the £24 Megarider Gold ticket is extremely good value! a Workington - Keswick return ticket alone costs £8.95, add into that travel on buses in tourist area's (a Bowness to Grasmere return is more expensive than the Central Lakes Dayrider at £6.50)

routes 7A and X7 will still exist, but the services have been cut at times where they're underused. services 10 and 11 are passing to other operators. its the same at Carlisle really, the 71 timetable is being cut down by Stagecoach, with another operator taking up the cut timetable times. other operators are taking up the council contracts handed back by Stagecoach (AFAIK, mainly underused routes that aren't attractive for Stagecoach to run anymore).

Thanks for that re-assurance. It's perhaps not as bad as it looks. As I'm someone who doesn't live in the area and looking at it as an outsider it perhaps looks more drastic than it really is.

I have to admit, it does look scary. Don't forget though - these changes take effect on 29th August, so there's plenty time yet to bash them.

Best thing to do probably is wait until the new timetables come out, and then see how they look.

Now the new Scanias have arrived for the 40 / 41 Service, are there any plans for withdrawal of the last Leyland Oly's. Hopefully they may keep them a little while longer so that the 17*** Tridents can receive some much needed TLC, their paintwork is staring to look very tired.

Just seen 17020 heading through Garstang on a 42

If they are going to withdrawn them I think they'll wait till all four Scans are in full service. I think only two have made it on so far...

It would be good for the 170** Tridents to get work as like you say the paint on them looks very very tired. They could also finish off doing the LED's and interior work including CCTV. But all that work takes a lot of time so its whether they can fit it all in I suppose.

Indeed but all the 170** are having LED's. 17018 and 17022 are the only remaining ones without LED's so they should receive them soon when ME can squeeze them in.

All 4 Scania's were out in service on saturday.
They have the L.E.D Blinds for 17018 and 17022 it is like you said time to squeeze them in.
Word of mouth is that 4/5 17xxx tridents will be leaving and the 3 leyland olys(14208 is a defo). Fleet changes might happen over the summer hols.

It's around £1,500 for every new LED screen.

The Leylands should be withdrawn by the next fleetcard.

A shiny 20457 has been on 552s all day.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
20984 and 20712 on the Dallam school runs to Arnside.

20710 on QES 99 at 1600

If 4 or 5 of the 17*** Tridents are off to pastures new, seems a waste putting new LED Blinds in them at ME. Any idea which they will be and where they may be heading - are they being converted to open toppers like the rest of the series in the North West?
