Does anybody know when there will be signaller jobs coming up in east anglia?
I applied for a job at Rugby SCC in November, was offered the job in February and I've been waiting for a start date since beginning of March...
feels like a long time and because of all situation right now it might be longer! I've applied for Grade 8 and was told that interviews are on hold atm.Did they give you an indication of timing? The wait to hear whether your interview was successful or not is agonising! Its only been less than a week and I'm already on edge daily lol
For all you existing signallers that have or do work in signal boxes, if your last train us at say midnight and the next one is at say 6am, what do you do on your night shift?
Thanks Woody27. I have committed examples of the non-technical skills and some info about Network Rail and the Job itself as far as I know it to memory, however, am bricking it!!!I have been following this thread for some time now, and I would like to wish you all the very best of luck with your upcoming interviews!
I'll put that on my listRead the rule books to refresh our knowledge

Can any of the experienced people on here give guidance as to what a Crossing Keeper might do between trains? I believe the station I have applied to (Pantyffynnon - my Skype interview is tomorrow) only has two to four trains a day at the moment and none overnight...
ps Did anyone else here apply for the vacancy? Thanks![]()

Keep your Rule Book up to date.
Read books.
Listen to the radio.
Do modelling.
I've even known signaller s do an Open Uni course, written books and done paintings.

On a more serious note, I presume in a quiet single manned box you’d have other chores that need doing?? Cleaning, general maintenance? If you don’t like you job anymore yes...
Ooh...3 in one! Hopefully gives you more chance! I presume 3 jobs under same Lom? Was this in the Midlands area, I think you said you had a few applications that way..Interview done (for three positions in one so that was great)
Now let the waiting commence!
Two different LOMs. Interviewed for resident in two different boxes, plus relief. So all my eggs are in one basket now - for good or bad! Yes, in the midlandsOoh...3 in one! Two days from my status changingGood luck! How long did it take for you to get the call about an interview?
No definitely not. Anything like that is totally out of the question in a signalbox.Netflix then![]()
I was just kidding, I didn’t think this would really happen. I would have thought there would be some chores around the box to do in any quiet times, unless someone else does those? No definitely not. Anything like that is totally out of the question in a signalbox.
In terms of sleeping on duty, I am not naive enough to think it does not happen as I spent many happy hours reading Section Z myself when I was in the grade. However my guys know what the consequences would be if I caught them at it. But you would have to be very dim indeed to get caught by me.
