For example Bristol TM platform 14.
According to Quail Maps, there is no p2 at Fishguard Harbour, yet platforms 1, 3 and 4 exist

Edinburgh Waverley as far as I know doesn't have a 5 or 6. (can't think where they are anway).

Lincoln Central didn't used to have a 1 or 2 before they did the resignalling.

Yep you can see 5 and 6 at Waverley, used to be used for putting cars on the Sleeper or something like that, or when the South Suburban was still open... could do with those now.

Lincoln's were removed in the 1980s, and when they resignalled it a couple of years ago, everything was renumbered 1-5, wasn't it? :D

Huddersfield has a platform 8, but only 6 platforms. AFAICR it goes 1) Sheffield bay, 2) main Manchester bound TPE platform, 4) Through platform but used as two bays for Manchester Vic and Leeds bound locals, 5) and 6) North facing bays used by Bradford and Wakefield services, 8) main Leeds bound TPE platform.

3) was a bay like 5 & 6 northfacing on 1/2 plat
7) was a westfacing bay like 2 on 4/8 plat

get ready for platform 9 coming soon... might see overall platform renumbering

Correct on both points, 1&2 became the car park.

So if I write number 8 and a close bracket this ridiculous forum will turn it into a smiley? What if I want to write an 8 and a close bracket?

Well you could always stifle your urge for correct punctuation and pt a space in between - 8 ) - that would be cool 8)

Yes, 5 and 6 were the old motorail platforms.
The platforms are still there, along with the ramps as well, but they're not numbered and are used as sidings, with there usually being a 67 and a 90 in them.

West Croydon doesn't have a Platform 2, even though there are signs on P1 indicating it is where P3 is :-?

Stafford has no plat 2, Northfield and Kings Norton are both missing 2 and 3. Shrewsbury, with the exception of very occasional use, starts at platform 4.

Towards CRE
The platform attached to the plaform used by services from BHM
and the far end platform (used by mails?)

In reply to 37401 too

Northfield and Kings Norton's 2 and 3 was the massive island platform still visible on both. You can still see the disused 1 and 2 at Shrewsbury, at the south end of 3, which is used on occasion. Stafford: the platform 2 was the bay at the London end of platform 1, still very visible, near the toilets I think.

I was at West Croydon yesterday and the only bay platform is now P1 (also confirmed on National Rail Enquiries there are only P1, 3 & 4). Its jseems strange that there is still a sign indicating where to go for P2 (but only from P1), you would think they would have removed it or blanked it out once the platform had been removed.

Watford Junction has no Platform 5. P1-4 are used by Overground, 6-9 are the through platforms, 10 is a south facing bay and 11 is for the St Albans Abbey branch.

I think that 1 and 4 are for heavy rail, both at the north end of the station, and 2 and 3 are to the south of these, for the Tyne & Wear Metro... that's what Quail say at least

Think you can see p5 filled in on DC lines in between 4 and 6.

More than filled in, my Dad tells me that platform 5 used to run the full length of the station alongside P6 before leading to a siding on the way to where the road bridge now is.

At present, Cardiff Central has no Platform 5, yet it has a Platform 0. Whether this will change come the *expected* rebuilding is anyone's guess...

Isn't that the bay that was at the end 3/4...

probably keep plat numbers nevertheless, I think everyone has got too used to current layout (ie Barry always p7 etc,), so to avoid confusion really :D

Aberdeen's Platform 1 is partly filled in, with the other part used as a dumping ground for old wagons or occasionally somewhere for the regular snowplough 37. Effectively closed.

i think that 1 and 4 are for heavy rail, both at the north end of Sunderland stn, and 2 and 3 are to the south of tyese plats, for the tyne Wear Metro... thats what Quail say atleast

1 and 4 are used by Northern services to Middlesbrough, Nunthorpe, Metrocentre and Hexham, and also the terminating Newcastle - Sunderland services on Sundays. 2 and 3 are used by the Metro. Then the whole platform just about is used for Grand Central.
