There's also the 90 on Minard Road and the 29/29A, 129 and 374 from Quentin Street, plus it's not that far to walk up Minard Road to get a 57/38/3/4 etc either

Which is precisely how I ruled out Killie having any booked 6-cars!

I guess theres a train every 15 mins from Crossmyloof and quicker than bus.

The Scotrail app shows how many carriages on each service as well as how busy the service usually is , well thats what i think the green symbols mean.

Although on that system they’ve also shown the 07.55 North Berwick to Edinburgh weekday service as “likely to get a seat” at Musselburgh. Not sure that’s entirely true.

They also have posters on the platform showing the booked number of carriages for morning peak trains into Glasgow.

Crossmyloof is always busy, Pollokshaws West is much quieter, yet on Sundays it was always Pollokshaws West that got the Kilmarnock/Carlisle service calls for some reason.

I agree Thorntonhall is pretty quiet, after all there must be a good reason every second off-peak train skips it still, though I wonder if it warrants being called at anyway, it would simplify the timetable.

Crossmyloof is busier due to the sheer numbers of people living around there, plus the school flows. Pollokshaws West doesn't have much to the west as it is Pollok Park. I think Pollokshaws West gets the Sunday calls to allow doubling back to EK, although given passenger numbers it is surprising they choose to skip Crossmyloof.

Thorntonhall has a lot of private school kids commuting between there and Crossmyloof.

Don't appear to be, no

I was positive the 1707 to Girvan has been in the past a 6 car service with 2 going on to Girvan, but seems to be just the 4 now.

It is, especially given that the other intermediate stations to Barrhead are now served on Sundays by Kilmarnock services.

Thorntonhall has a lot of private school kids commuting between there and Crossmyloof.

Indeed, there was a typo on my part thereof. While acknowledging that it is a quiet station, my intention was to suggest that they may as well stop all services there rather than every second EK skipping there as now.

Looks like there are no 2 cars out on East Kilbride today. It is a variation of 4 and 6 car. Same with Ayrshire which has no single 3 car units out but instead a mix of 4, 6 and 7 car.

They seem to be trying to run a long a train on the remaining services as possible. While I don't have to use them, I'm sure those that do have to will be welcoming that.

Noticed this on app too . Maybe thats the reason . I wonder how many are using them.

Very good question, I've heard the trains going past but I haven't been out to see what it's like.

I think it would be the reason, trying to ensure people can distance themselves as much as possible

All services 6 car today, not sure if that's down to maintaining social distancing?
