It is on the Southern website and reflected in journey planners.

Trains terminate at Lingfield with a bus between there and East Grinstead.

Line closed between Lingfield and East Grinstead until Monday 30 March
Hide details

A landslip near East Grinstead means that trains are unable to call at East Grinstead or Dormans.

We expect all repairs to be completed by Monday, 30 March.

Your journey will take longer than usual, and you'll need to use a replacement bus or an alternative route.

Travel advice for passengers using Southern services:

Trains will run between London Victoria and Lingfield for most of the day.

Replacement buses will operate between Lingfield, Dormans and East Grinstead, and also between East Grinstead and Three Bridges, connecting with services to / from London.

Some early-morning and late-evening trains will only run between London Victoria and either Oxted or Hurst Green. Replacement buses at these times will be extended to run to and from Oxted or Hurst Green to meet these trains.

Travel advice for passengers using Thameslink weekday peak-time services:

Thameslink will run a reduced peak-time service on weekday mornings and evenings.

Thameslink trains that do operate on this line will start at Oxted (for journeys towards London) and terminate at Oxted (heading away from London).

General advice for your journey:

First Class can be used by Standard Class ticket holders on the following services, in both directions:

  • Services between Lingfield and London
  • Uckfield Line services, between Oxted and London Bridge only

If you hold a car park season ticket for East Grinstead or Lingfield, you can also travel from Gatwick Airport and use the South Terminal Long Stay car park - postcode RH6 0LL.

Additional parking is also available at Lingfield Park Racecourse.

Car Parking at East Grinstead and Lingfield Racecourse is currently free for Southern & Thameslink passengers.

For full details of your travel options during this incident, please visit East Grinstead landslip.

Travel arrangements with other operators:

Southern and Thameslink tickets can be used with the following at no extra cost:

  • Thameslink, Southern and Gatwick Express between Haywards Heath, Three Bridges, Gatwick Airport, Redhill (as applicable) and Central London
  • Southern services between Uckfield and London Bridge
  • Southeastern services between Tunbridge Wells / Tonbridge and London Charing Cross / London Victoria / London Cannon Street
Buses:

Metrobus:

  • 281 (until 18:00) between Crawley and Lingfield (via Three Bridges and East Grinstead)
  • 400 (until 18:00) between East Grinstead and Caterham (via Three Bridges, Crawley, Gatwick Airport, Horley, Salfords and Redhill)

Southdown:

  • 410 between Oxted and Redhill

and Uckfield

Service suspended between Uckfield and London until the end of the day
Hide details

Today, urgent track repairs will take place between Uckfield and Hurst Green.

As a result of this, there will be a reduced service between Uckfield and Hurst Green with some stations not being served.

Customer Advice:

Emergency repairs to the line between Uckfield and Hurst Green is taking place until the close of service.

A significantly reduced service will operate on the Uckfield route today. You're encouraged to use alternative routes where possible.

Due to the recent severe weather, there has been significant deterioration in the railway embankment near Edenbridge Town which means Network Rail need to close the Uckfield line this weekend to carry out emergency repairs. We apologise for the short notice; however, the work must be completed to prevent a major landslip and a longer closure of the railway.

You are advised to, where possible, avoid travelling from stations on the route or to make alternative arrangements to travel to and from a station such as Tunbridge Wells, Haywards Heath or Lewes.

  • A train service will run every 2 hours, running between Uckfield and Ashurst where possible
  • A reduced train service will run between London and Hurst Green
  • Rail replacements will run between Eridge and Tunbridge Wells on an hourly basis
  • There is no direct service between Oxted and Ashurst, customers will need to travel via Tunbridge Wells or make different arrangements

Southern have arranged for your tickets to be accepted on the following, at no extra cost:

  • Southern services between Lewes and London as well as Southern and Thameslink services between Haywards Heath and London
  • Southeastern services from Tunbridge Wells into London
  • London Underground to allow travel between London terminals - Charing Cross, Cannon Street, London Bridge, London Victoria
  • Brighton & Hove Buses, on routes 28 and 29, for Uckfield, Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells

Spa Valley Railway ticket acceptance:

In addition, for customers at Eridge we have a unique opportunity for something different. A community partner of Southern Railway, the Spa Valley Railway, is also offering our ticket holders from the Uckfield line, to and from London, the opportunity of travelling on the Spa Valley Railway between Eridge and Tunbridge Wells West station at no cost, to supplement the direct replacement bus service operated by Southern.

The Spa Valley Railway is separate from the Uckfield line, but operates from Eridge station, so provides a unique, if much less direct option to travel to/from Tunbridge Wells for onwards travel to /from London. Please be aware that Tunbridge Wells West is a separate station from Tunbridge Wells station and this opportunity is indirect and will involve a walk between the two stations of around 15 minutes. The Spa Valley trains will not connect with the Southern two-hourly service, therefore Spa Valley is likely to be an option only for people travelling to and from Eridge and London. Customers with set travel plans should use our direct replacement bus services.

This is an independent offer by the Spa Valley Railway and is entirely separate from Southern services. The Spa Valley Railway is operating four services to and from Eridge, and more information can be found at: www.spavalleyrailway.co.uk

Car Parking:

Customers from the Uckfield line can use Lewes and Haywards Heath car parks at no cost.

Car Parks at Tunbridge Wells, Frant and Wadhurst can also be used. Charges will apply at these car parks, with the exception of car park season ticket holders who can use these car parks at no extra cost.

Customers requiring assisted travel:

Eridge does not have step free access. Customers who require step free access should speak to station staff or contact Southern Assisted Travel on 0800 138 1016.

But that only says until the end of service ? It doesn’t say tommorow or the next day etc
Have another more careful read.

There are 3 lansdslips south of Hurst Green:

East Grinstead line - 2 landslips, closure till 30th March *no end of service comment in text*

Uckfield line - 1 landslip, temporary repairs this weekend reopening tomorrow am hence the "end of service" comment.

The points at Lingfield (manually operated ground frame) developed a fault hence a few days of Hurst Green turnback before they were fixed for even more confusion in addition to this weekend Hurst Green turnbacks.

So some of the trains are starting / terminating at Hurst Green for another few days or have the points been fixed now ?
It must have been a nightmare for Southern trains recently .

The points were fixed last week. All southern trains are terminating at lingfield, peak time Thameslink trains are terminating at Oxted, where buses extend to in peak times.

Does anyone know how often the RRBs from Three Bridges to East Grinstead run? And do they run on Saturdays?

What's the journey time?

They don't seem to show in journey planners.

they don't operate on weekends and they are scheduled on RTT as taking 35 minutes, but i'm local and by car it usually takes 15-20 minutes.

i'm afraid I don't have the answer to that one. I know it did say that last week but for some reason it doesn't anymore.
