Ok 37401 the joke just lost it's novelty. It's not funny anymore. In fact, it's quite annoying. I asked you to stop politely. Did you? No. So please stop. Please. I'm asking politely again. Please stop. Please.

OK, I dont want you to get thrashy

would cause some platform end froth on the youtubez

Heard them already. I know froth isn't a bad word but it annoys me for some reason. I think it's because I like flying scotsman a little too much. I should fall in love with other engines. Anyway, we should just get back to the frankly rubbish merchandise theme.

FlyingScot, some advice;

Drop it.

If it annoys you, ignore it, or go do something else.

On the other hand, you can stay and get annoyed; it makes for good reading :D

Apart from the gem of an ad-banner telling us "Hear the authentic sound of Flying Scotsman on the hour" (never knew that Gresley invented a whistle which cuckoo'd...)

I love the fact that someone had the gall to stand up in front of the product development executive and say: "No, guys, hear me out on this one - I just KNOW it's a money-spinner"

And the fact that the product development exec actually believed him

What next?

Flying Scotsman bath-salts ("Ladies - fill your tub with coal-effect and come out dirty-black like a REAL fireman!")
Flying Scotsman condoms ("Gents - next time you 'go into a tunnel', have a full head of steam!")

Oh god, I'm off....

That reminded me, at my uni fresher's fair 3 years ago First bus were handing out condoms in First liveried wrappers. It was a bit of marketing genius, as its something a lot of students require a stock of, but i'm sure there was a joke in there about first and coming late or not at all.

I'll get me coat.

I have an idea for something that's totally rubbish! Engine plushs! Joy in the form of stuffed engines! There would be Flying Scotsman, Mallard, Duchess of hamilton(streamlined) and Stepney!

*phone rings*

Hello?
Who is this? The NRM? You want to produce my idea of plushies? Ok Then!

*puts phone down*

I don't care if it's a rubbish idea, at least I'll be richer than you lot!

I think you are really...ask your parents.

Good one 37401!

I am not! I'm the only one in my family who understands trains. You think you are..... well ralph, I hate to break it to ya, but not every thing you think is right. I am NOT too young, I have the intelligence of an adult and I deserve to have the respect of one! I am ex-tremely annoyed at the way you treat me. Now tell me what this stupid big streamlined thing is mr annoying or I will add you to my ignore list. And you enjoy seeing me getted steamed up like this? You are so mean! Tell me what it is right now you jerks!

Considering what's being proposed would only be offered for sale in licensed "adult" shops, I think in this case you really are too young.

I was going to do a "hot box" joke, but not anymore...

Erm, yes. What utter junk. Fairly sure that's not the first time it's been on offer either. This pile of tat tends to be on sale every few years I think.

I think the problem with this sort of rubbish, that is far from exclusive to the railways, is that whilst no self respecting enthusiast would consider buying it, they make an idea gift for the enthusiast in your life. It's the sort of thing you put in pride of place when they come to visit, but remove to some dark, hidden location as soon as they leave.

On the subject of "streamlined" railway themed novelty products, the Pendolino and the 395 would both be the ideal shape. I'm sure most people can think of the ovious name for the former too. Javelin says enough as it is. Slogans could relate to tunnels, and that these high speed trains come in record time.
