Bordesley is only served by one parliamentary train a week in one direction only. Currently this is the 13:18 train from Whitlocks End to Great Malvern which calls at Bordesley at 13:36 on Saturdays only. However this is augmented by a number of additional stops in both directions when Birmingham City FC are at home.
However, since August, the number of services calling at the station has almost doubled. Coventry City FC have left the Ricoh Arena following a rental dispute with Wasps rugby union club who now the ground. The Sky Blues now groundshare with Birmingham City at St Andrews and West Midlands Railway are stopping trains at Bordesley for Coventry City home matches notwithstanding their lower attendances.
I used the service to go to and from the Coventry match on September 7th and found it was reasonably well used. The station is of course unstaffed but there were a number of high-visibility jacketed staff on the single island platform. There are no information posters or displays and the only structure is a concrete shelter with no seats. Externally on Coventry Road there is little to suggest that the station even exists, just an unmarked stairway under the railway bridge. Indeed several fans were waiting at the adjacent bus stop after the game waiting for buses to the city centre, blissfully unaware of the train service above their heads.
