Staff Pas not working at LU and NR station

Hi guys,

Just a quick question. I attempted to use my GTR staff pass at Harrow and Wealdstone Station earlier today. The guy at the ticket office said that even though it is valid for the Southern services that go through there, as its underground gates, it won't let me though. I was just wondering why if the station is both LU and NR as to why it isn't programmed to accept valid passes for NR services that stop there, is there any reason to this?

You'll be better checking with RSTL or the TOC directly.

Not all staff passes operate all gates - for example "all stations" status passes (for safeguarded staff) still don't operate Scotrail barriers. I know its a pain but you will just have to show your pass to the gateline staff at Harrow and Wealdstone who will then let you through.

It all depends on agreements between TOCs. My pass works for some other TOCs' barriers but not all, depending on who is in the agreement. Not working barriers is not an indication of perceived non-validity (sorry, there's a lot of negatives in that sentence!).

GTR pass works at some LU stations, so they can be programmed to accept them. But perhaps being only an hourly service, they might be concerned people might be tempted to use them on trains they're not valid on, and prefer manual checks to be undertaken?

Tell me about it - last off the platform every morning (nearly) but with a valid pass!! Come on ScotRail sort it out!

It's quite annoying to have to find staff at Harrow and Wealdstone. there is never any there. they are all in the information desk inside the gateline :/ oh well, luckily it will only be for this week.
