No 1 and No 2 ends maybe? That's always been my assumption.

Both make sense... but why does it need to be displayed on the front? Other operators don't need to (nor to EMT on other units) - and the 52 and 57 ends are different.

Central Trains put 7 on some trains IIRC

Do these units have 1st Class?

If so it could mean that the end with the 1 is the 1St Class End and the 2 end is STD?????????
