Word is that EMT have been allocated 6, although they would prefer to swap them with Northern for 156s.I heard that EMT will be getting some Class 150 units from London Midland.
How many will they get?
What routes will they operate on?
When will they be operating?
Stagecoach Rail 'Local'
Class 153 : 153302/308/310-311/313/319/321/326/355/357/374/381/383/385 [EMT livery].
Class 153 : 153376/379/384 [Central green livery]
Class 156 : 156401/403-406/408/410-411/413-415 [EMT livery]
Stagecoach Rail 'Mainline'
Class 222 : 222001-022/101-104 [EMT livery]
Class 158 : 158770/777/780/783/785/788/799/806/810/812-813/846-847/852/854/856-858/862 [EMT livery]
Class 158 : 158863-866 [Wessex Trains livery]
Class 158 : 158773/774 [Trans Pennine/Central livery]
Class 43 : 43046/048-050/052/055/058/061/064/072/082-083/089 [EMT livery]
Class 43 : 43043-045/047/054/059-060/066/073-076/081 [MML livery]
EMT have openly admitted that they have too many 90mph 158s for the routes they are used on, these being more suited for 75mph 150/156 which is wy they want 150's to displace some 158's over to Northern and possibly FGW.
They do have a pretty decent fleet. Although I think the 158s are waaay too small for the routes they run (Liverpool-Norwich!) its gets very crowded!

Why there hell would they wanna swap a 158 to a 156? As much as I love the the 156s I don't get why they would want to change em...unless they is a financial reason? Cheaper running maybe?
I've never heard that they have too many 158s. What has been said is that the 158s which currently frequent 'Route 3' local services could be much better used on the 'Route 2' former Citylink services, if only there were stock to displace them.EMT have openly admitted that they have too many 90mph 158s for the routes they are used on, these being more suited for 75mph 150/156 which is wy they want 150's to displace some 158's over to Northern and possibly FGW.
They want to do 150 for 156
This could be seen as mutually beneficial, as Northern need capacity and 150s have more seats than 156s thanks to their 3 + 2 seating arrangement.

150s to NXEA wouldn't make much sense - they dont presently have any either. I don't see how it would be beneficial to them?Last i heard it was 156s from NXEA.
i wouldn't mind 150s, they'd be good on Lincoln-Leicester and Nottm-Worksop.
153s to FGW? First I've heard of that. Seems very unlikely seeing as EMT are repainting all their 153s presently. Why would they bother if they're going to be transferred away?As for the 150 units from London Midland yes EMT have asked for up to 8 of them 4 extra units and 4 to replace 153 units to go to FGW but nothing has been decided as yet Tim is still trying to come to an agrement with DfT. (this Being the latest Inforamtion)
You've got me confused Will, i didn't say NXEA were getting 150s. Central took all theirs a few years back in exchange for some 156s.
As for 153s off to FGW, i'd have 150s over them.
They are on-hire, and all of the SWTs 158s were painted as soon as they got there. (before they entered service?)
Sorry to confuse. My assumption is that NXEA would need something to replace the 156s - what else could they get other than 150s? I assume their allocation is as tight as everyone else's!!You've got me confused Will, i didn't say NXEA were getting 150s. Central took all theirs a few years back in exchange for some 156s.

Didn't ScotRail get a couple of SWT liveried 158s? Pretty sure I saw some pictures...Correct MCR247.
The only trains that I am aware that got painted in SWT colours which they did not keep as they were swapped for Class 158's is the class 170 trains that sWT use to have in their fleet.

Right! Have these been internally refurbished?
