On Set 1 currently making it's way up to Aberdeen as 1A88
Buffet Counter has electrical fault and is kaput.
Coaches feel a little on the chilly side but nit picking
Few squeaks but still take this over a 170 and most certainly a 158 any day of the week

Same as last night - 0453 Inverness to Edinburgh (via Aberdeen) is set HA04, 43003 leading & 43134 trailing. 0554 Aberdeen is a170 though....

Had a look on scotrail yammer at the two refurb diagrams that came out mid march the 1600 is meant to be a refurb starting the day at 05:30 at Edinburgh. Of course they don't always make it out into service.

I'm going to ammend that now seeing as it should be the second refurbished set -

0530 Edinburgh-Aberdeen
0904 Aberdeen-Edinburgh
1230 Edinburgh-Aberdeen
1600 Aberdeen-Edinburgh
1934 Edinburgh-Aberdeen

There also seems to be a set in Inverness shed that is in 3 bits, possibly in for an exam. Think it's due a power car swap & return to service. Not sure what set it is, but 43036 is the power car that's not attached

1538 ABD-GLQ is a HST.

I think a HST has failed or something as the 1600 Aberdeen-Edinburgh is a 170.
Also the 1736 Edinburgh-Aberdeen is also a 170.

Given that Kilmarnock will only be doing work on the coaches, they may well be behind something other than a HST power car.

Although the easiest way to shift HST coaches is with HST power cars - no faffing around with coupling translators for a start. Suspect the move from Ely may well be loco hauled, though.

That's true. And Scotrail do have a few going spare at the moment. I guess it depends on if it's easier/cheaper to send their PCs down to Ely to collect the coaches or to have them delivered.

Hmm.... I wonder if it's an April Fool's joke - all the way from Inverness to Kilmarnock on a weekday morning without having to wait in a single loop. Impressive!

The timings get quite interesting by the time it gets to Dunblane. The Inverness to Kilmarnock and 1T08 Aberdeen to Glasgow Queen St both pass at 0837 and the Aberdeen train is in front by Bridge of Allan!
