I think all the Northbound HST trains on the HML start in Edinburgh...I may be wrong about that though...

Technical issues on the 13:57 from Aberdeen to Edinburgh. Dont think the powercars are functioning correctly as all non essential power isn't working at the moment...

I don't recall - I know the HST Mk3 coaches use 415V three-phase AC, but how is it generated? Is it tapped off the traction current or is there a separate generator? Thanks.

It was a brake/air pressure fault, nothing wrong with the train supply.

I would assume so...even if it's a bit further on & the entire Inter7City network is fully HST operated (whenever that will be).

Is 2050 the year when you stop the tedious comments about them?
Given that more vehicles have gone in, that would suggest the next set is not far off.

No. When a company performs so badly and there are direct impacts on public services, the users are right to point out the low quality nature of that company's service.
History doesn't support your assertion. The relationship between numbers of vehicles arriving at Wabtec is not proportional to the timing of the delivery of the sets.

No but since we are talking about the delivery of 26 units which are the same, the conversation is by its very nature, repetitive. There are 193 pages of content talking about one thing - the HSTs.

This pathetic argument is utterly unnecessary. We’ve been told the next few sets aren’t far off, so asking for any update on this is hardly unreasonable.
If someone asks something you don’t know that answer to, do politely stay quiet and let anyone that might be able to post a helpful reply do just that.
On a different note, is there any update on when we might start seeing refurbished sets running to Inverness? After the second set it put into public service, or are there further issues to contend with?

As far as I know, Inverness crews haven't had training for refurbished HST sets (@jingsmonty can confirm). That doesn't mean that the second set couldn't run there, but it does place limitations on what services it could run. I don't know exactly how Highland Main Line turns are crewed , but it isn't an even split; Inverness crews run more HML turns than Perth. You'd have to find a diagram that was crewed by Perth staff both ways.

Rail Magazine Issue 871 reports that a third refurbished set is about to be released, with the next four sets not far behind.
They also report that Scotrail has told them that they expect all 26 refurbished set to be in traffic by the end of the year.

I would be pleasantly surprised by seven sets for seven cities as an Easter gift.

They do though need to fill 100 positions to make this move according to the tweet... I hope that they can attract the people with the experience needed for this, better than they seem to have managed at Doncaster.
Some of the ex-shipyard guys will need to get used to welding steel that is paper thin instead of what they're normally used to!

I just hope that skilled people aren't put off by the limited duration of the project.
It says "secure and create", which means a combination of existing staff (i.e. whose jobs are now "secure" for the duration of the work) and new hires.
I can confirm this refurbed unit Will not be seen in Inverness until the works to the sidings are complete. It may pop up on a driver training run but won't be passengers on it to and from inverness until the works are done

That's correct - no 'Refurb' training has taken place in Inverness yet. There is currently nowhere to stable a spare HST set at the moment. Only thing I can see happening is that 'Refurb 3' will be swapped with the current 'classic' training train set (which does get used for passenger trains too) when it's released. That's just a personal guess/shot in the dark on my part! I believe this is fairly close now (followed not far behind by sets 4-7, with sets 8 & 9 having entered Wabtec).
hI think us Drivers had an extra Perth turn as of December (due to the 'Classic' sets being introduced) - we gained the 12.55 South, for one. I believe the 2nd refurbished set is used for training (static, or mobile, I'm not 100% sure) - I did hear that Perth has a specific path for a training train on the HML (which I haven't actually seen yet!) - how far North this goes, I'm not sure of either.
