Hello,

My Family and I (2 adults and 3 children 16,12 & 8) will be travelling to London in May for 5 days. We will be arriving at Heathrow Airport and staying in the Bloomsbury area. For travel I was looking to purchase 7 Day paper Travel cards from an above ground rail station (Charing Cross I believe is the closest) with Photo I.D's. The main reason for this instead of Oyster cards being for the 2 4 1 offers for the attractions we want to visit (I've done the homework and definitely worth it in our case) as well as the ease of it covering all public transport for the duration of our trip (other then the Heathrow to Bloomsbury trips) and the Child discount on travel and attractions for the 8 & 12y.o's. However some sites I've read recently say this is still an option and others say that this is no longer an option and that these would be transferred to an Oyster card or that they are even unavailable to purchase after our arrival in London at all and the only option is to pre-purchase online which doesn't cover the 2 4 1 offers and therefore isn't worth it in our case. Please clarify as I particularly want the 2 4 1 offers and the child discounts. Thanks in advance.

As of 2nd January 2019, TfL Rail and London Overground stations will only sell Travelcard Seasons on Oyster. All other train company Ticket Offices will still be able to issue them as paper tickets.

Euston mainline station is also pretty close to your hotel - certainly within reasonable walking distance north of your hotel. Both the main ticket office on the concourse and the London and North Western ticket office at the bottom of the ramp to platforms 8-11 should be able to sell you Travelcards in paper format.

Do you have a source for that please? And is that allowed under their franchise agreements? I still buy a paper travelcard season and find it more convenient

It looks like you can get a photocard from http://ehelp.thetrainline.com/euf/assets/images/PhotocardApplication.pdf
You might want to contact thetrainline to confirm that they can sell you paper weekly travelcards. It appears to be able to sell you one. e.g. from Clapham Junction to London Underground Zones 1-6.

Or you can buy a paper weekly travelcard from https://ticket.southernrailway.com/season-tickets/ just put from a station in the zones (e.g. Clapham Junction) and to London Travelcard Zones 1-6.

(Stupidly the two vendors use different names, but it means the same thing...)

What zones are you after? If you are after zones 1-6 for your travels, as RichardN suggests, this ticket is valid go Heathrow Airport using the TfL Rail service from London Paddington (though not the Heathrow Express service). Most attractions and tourist hotpots will be covered by a Zones 1-2 Travelcard.

They are concessions not franchises, all directed by TfL.

Only an internal briefing I'm afraid, though posters should have been displayed at the affected stations from 2nd December.

I only came across this on NYE at Stratford station. It certainly hasn't been advertised at the LO operated stations in South London that I use. Not surprising though, they find it more important to give info about the Goblin mess on the other side of London rather than anything about the Southern services that actually serve the station.
