Are more vehicles expected up there or are they OK now? And how long do you think extra support will remain in Cumbria?

OK cool and yes may be a while. I would have thought things will improve when the Military erect these temporary bridges.

Workington... Yay.
I heard 19 extra vehicles were coming but not 100% sure on how accurate that is, the three extra solo's were coming to LL anyway to replace 40028 and two Mercedes 814d's, however it looks like they will be sticking around for a bit longer now.
I think it will be a long long time before things are back to "normal" in W/Cumb. :(

Yeah, its going to take a long time for things to get back to normal. Have to say that I'm quite impressed at how Stagecoach are handling everything, they've certainly got their hands full at the minute. The traffic queues around Papcastle Bridge are worsening, buses are just sitting there. Obviously, this cannot be helped. Saw 16743 on the 300 today, and PX04 DMY on Harrington. Interesting times ahead!

sounds about right! the one with the beard must have got the short straw yesterday, having 52629 (horrible Jonckheere coach, although 52629 was the better one)

Not all that horrible--everything works fine on 52629 (SHHH! Don't tell the other drivers:) OK, the steering is a bit vague, but not enough to cause a problem.

It's always been the best of a bad bunch! I bet the LL drivers are really pleased to see the Joncks back in service.... not!

Some people are just fussy

(but if I'd been given one of the others I'd have been cussing and moaning like anyone else, I guess.)

I suppose its a shame we don't have any coaches in Lancaster, don't really have a need for them I guess lol.

And from Maryport...
47005 on 57... Must be noted that the engine on this sounds particularly sweet compared to the noisy and rattly PO51 Examples we have. If all three are the same, i would say we have three particularly good Optare Solos! Also, it had an impressive turn of speed up ennerdale road, just as good as the '08 platers!

47006 is pretty decent as well! rides better than the PO51's!

they're pretty shiny too... For how long though! Lol

Saw the godawful Marshall bodied Vario, 42025 passing the end of senhouse street too... That is also quite a rattly old thing. I can't see that one being around long before being pensioned off!

42025 isn't really the best haha. it seems better than the T reg Beaver bodied ones though!
it'd be nice if all Vario's were replaced, but the manual gearboxes are kinda needed for the 77 / 77A!

people better hadn't buy frozen food then! will take them longer than the timetabled 55 minutes to get back to Maryport!

47006 on Harrington. the displays are now programmed.
47024 on 50.
47060 on 51.
35248 on 31, and there was a wheelchair passenger waiting for it. the wheelchair ramp couldn't be used cos the driver couldn't get the bus far enough forward for the ramp to fit in the gap in the railings (53339 was at Stand C loading for the X5), so he had to carefully manouvre it closer to the raised platform and kneel it so the wheelchair passenger could board. it would be the day when there isn't loads of inspectors around when one is needed to guide the driver closer to the back of the Profile without hitting it!
20435 on short 300.
think it was 52629 on School Route A.

Princess Coaches ceased trading at 12-noon today, NOT 6pm as originally planned.

There are a number of factors involved which brought about the down-fall of Princess. Including the introduction of the compulsory driver CPC and associated training, also that as of 1st April 2009 that all employees are entitle to additional 3-days paid holiday a year. (All employees are now entitle to 28-days paid holiday per a year). These two things alone has costed Princess about 38-working days in 2009.

Other factors include the continuing increasing fuel prices.

I am aware of another company, which is also to cease trading by the end of the year. When its proprietor retires.

This morning, as i was driving to York. i received a number phone calls & text messagers, from former passengers complaining about the use of step entrance buses on both Kendal & Windermere town services by KLCH.

Apparently they had buses spare from Lancaster town services 8A/C, which they could use immediately in place of the Princess buses, whereas Travellers did not.

Gemma (Stagecoach Gem) said that instead of Stagecoach getting shown-up by Princess, now its KLCH getting shown-up by Stagecoach on the town services.
