It's due to reports of the overheads arcing near Marshgate Sidings.

All lines blocked while the issue is investigated.

I was thinking of booking that train! I'm on a later one, and it looks like we'll overtake you.

Does anyone know if diesel trains can get around the problem at all? Or are Lincoln diversions on the cards? Crew knowledge of Lincoln diversions should be good at the moment ;)

@ainsworth74 hopefully will be sorted by the time you travel this evening, but if not, you might want to take an earlier train to make your connection!

I actually saw this - there was a large flash seen on the overheads just as 1Y82 was pulling in. 1Y82 subsequently dropped its pan whilst sitting in the station. Celebrity class 91, 91119 is on 1S09 now stuck just outside Doncaster.

Looks like my train is pulling into platform 1. Not clear if we will let people on. We must be pretty full already though so not many people would get seats (and I'd imagine 1st would get declassified?)

edit: no, not stopping! Loads of people on the platform, hoping we would stop.

I thought arcing was just something that happened and everyone just ignored it and carried on. It can be a serious issue then I guess?

Which service are you on?

I was picking up at Peterborough at 08.55 this am and the trains seemed to be running on time there so maybe North bound OK

Finally some services moving, I’m back on what was originally 1Y82 which was then cancelled and now reinstated.

Overheard staff saying that the issues were caused by a damaged/tilting stanchion near Marshgate then causing an arc as 1Y82 approached?

So the current situation seems to be all lines are open again in both directions but electric services are non-stopping southbound? Is that correct?

That’s correct. All lines open, southbound electric services non-stopping at Doncaster, passengers advised to change at York or Newark.

I wonder if Southbound electrics are coasting through?

It didn’t appear so, a service was waiting on the UFL with its pantograph up without issue. My hunch is that up fast is unaffected and that for whatever reason only the paths into platforms 1 and 3 are affected.

We've just gone through whilst accelerating so I'd say not! Is there a signal failure just north of Doncaster? We seemed to be talked past a signal. Now approaching line speed!

I would assume the signal check was to inform (or remind) the driver not to stop at Donny!

That's what I thought but we were checked twice. Brought to a stand, crept forward at around 10mph and then to another stand then at line speed. Thinking about it that sounds more like checking the line!

91119 working 1S09 0900 KX - Edinburgh terminated at Newcastle 180 late as a result of the Doncaster issue. It has stuck to diagram though, as it is on its booked back working, 1E18 1400 from Edinburgh, but started from Newcastle right time.
